I am planning on compiling a list of the best indie game soundtracks of all time. So far my range for the list only covers 2011-2013 and i was wondering if i'm missing some gems from before the modern indie era. So please, let me know what you're favourite indie game soundtracks of all time are.

Rules
1.Soundtrack must be original music and not compiled Edit: Due to some confusion, Original music made for the game (ie. Hotline Miami) and not simply compiled from existing tracks (like Electronic Super Joy)

2.I must be able to find the complete soundtrack standalone (I don't have the time to play through every game to hear them)
3.Finally, they must be independent releases, not major releases. (if you must ask, go to wikipedia)

Thank you.

EDIT: Wow, some of these suggestions have thrown up some surprise contenders, this is going to be an epic list.
Are there any indie soundtracks from before 2010 that are great?

Post Edit: Here are the contenders so far

Machinarium
FTL
Frozen Synapse
Zombies
Journey
Binding of Isaac
Endless Space
Kentucky Route Zero
Dysfunctional Systems
Castle Crashers
Guacamelee
Minecraft
Hotline Miami
Snapshot
To The Moon
Aqua Kitty
Botanicula
Bastion
La-Mulani
Monaco: What's Yours Is Mine
Risk Of Rain

I can't think of ten right now, but these should fit most or all of your requirements:

Guacamelee
Hotline Miami
Gunpoint
Soundodger

It's a pity they have to be original because Hotline Miami and 'top indie soundtrack' practically go hand-in-hand. Ah well, it's your list. I'm gonna mention Lone Survivor's soundtrack [http://spacerecordings.bandcamp.com/album/lone-survivor-original-soundtrack] composed by Jasper Byrne. Atmospheric as hell and listenable outside of the game, it has everything from indie rock to ambient soundscapes that paints a picture with its simple yet descriptive composition.

Journey had an awesome soundtrack. Really helped the mood. That's all I can think of for now.

You might want to try Epic Battle Fantasy (especially 3 and 4; and Bullet Heaven which is a shmup spin-off). HFX makes some really impressive music. Should be on youtube.

Can't think of ten, but Bastion and Monaco: What's Yours is Mine both have fantastic soundtracks. Especially Monaco. Seriously, go play Monaco.

I'll second Lone Survivor and Journey, and add in Gone Home. Also, The Binding of Isaac and Super Meat Boy both have amazing soundtracks, done by the same person. Danny Baranowski is a friggin' genius :) FYI, both soundtracks can be found on iTunes. That's all I can think of for now.

Of all the suggestions so far, only Gone Home isn't in consideration for the list. I did love it, but there are some stronger contenders on a tract by track basis.

Top ten? No, I'll give you my top one though.

FTL
Good soundtrack, big contender for the final list. If you like that soundtrack I highly recommend you check out Mahinarium's Soundtrack, it's got lots of sonic details.

The Real Texas has a really great soundtrack, but I don't know if that's just open source music or not, because I've heard it mentioned before.

Machinarium and Botanicula are fantastic exercises in soundtrack and complete sensory delight, perhaps the latter more so.

Journey and Flower come to mind immediately, especially Journey. And Terraria has a fun quirky soundtrack. That's all I can think of at the moment.

I've always been a fan of the World of Goo soundtrack, although it might be a compilation of sorts. It's probably one of, if not my favorite game soundtrack that comes to mind.

Hmmm...lemme think here...in no particular order

Castle Crashers
Squids
Squids Wild West
Detective Grimoire
Giant Boulder of Death
Nihilumbra
Binding of Isaac

Ummm...that's all I can think of off the top of my head. I'm sure I could come up with more, but those all stood out to me as having good soundtracks.

I've forgotten so many good ones, but I did come up with three that I didn't see already listed in this thread.

Not my top ten, but my "three good ones".

Dustforce - http://lifeformed.bandcamp.com/album/fastfall: This is a game that I played just because the music was awesome. I actually had the OST before I got the game (Indie Game Music Bundle).

Zombies - http://bignic.bandcamp.com/album/zombies-soundtrack: Another one where the game is fun, but nothing amazing until you hear the soundtrack.

VVVVVV - http://souleyedigitalmusic.bandcamp.com/album/pppppp-the-vvvvvv-soundtrack: I love the game itself, but when I hear the music I have the urge to go play the game again.

Not one into listening to much game music beyond the game.

However one that I am all junkied up on is Paper Sorcerer

Its the only time I have ever bought a soundtrack. (though that purchase was in part because of wanting to support the dev, but I felt it was definitely worthy purchase)

The music is unique and genre defying, Sometimes mixing elements of rock, metal, country, jazz, even Dubstep & techno all without it sounding painful.

If you havent... Buy the game,

http://www.ultrarunaway.com/

Or

https://indiegamestand.com/store/709/paper-sorcerer/

Its 5 friggen dollars. Do it... Do it now!

I know that for me, it was possibly my most enjoyed game of 2013 (Its really a toss up with Rogue Legacy and BSI in the mix)

Fuckin' Dustforce man. Just listen to this:

Every single song is an incredible soundtrack for an incredible game, one of my alltime favourites.
