Give me a stereotype of any genre of music and I will post a song that breaks it.

Haha I remember SanAn

@OP: All pop music is about trivial subject matter.

(yeah, it should be quite an easy one - but it has to be pop as opposed to rock, not popular music in general).

Well, yes that is whats it's supposed to be. It's an EDM made by the disc jockeys for huge dance party's though I have developed a bit of a taste for the stuff my self.

While I will admit that the guitar work was good, I couldnt for the life of me make out any of the words on my own, so my beliefs still are still in place.
But it's not mindless, it's just difficult to understand.

But if you want something that's easier to understand, here's some Cynic.

Country songs sung by men are about: Trucks, being a cowboy or making love to a woman.

Country songs sung by women are about: Longlost love or being strong, independent and not needing a man.
Nooooo! My one weakness. Country music!

But this song isn't about trucks, cowboys or making love to women. It spices things up by talking about drinking beer!

I know I'm not the one supposed to be breaking stereotypes, but how about Stand by Your Man? That's like, the only country song I know the name of, and it still works.
Nah man it's all cool! Anybody can join in on the stereotype shattering.

English grime music is perfomed by idiots.
Probabably one of the "truer" artists of the decade. His newer stuff is definately more pop/club directed but his first album is honesty incarnate. Currently 11th highest rated on Metacritic.

No, it's a load of repetitive beats, samples, and synthesizers. Remember your stereotypes.

And here's some techno jazz fusion. It has a saxophone!

My stereotype was aimed at Techno not Techno Jazz Fusion.
Lol, this is just silly. There's a big difference between a stereotype and a genre classification, here. Techno is DEFINED by electronic production, so it's going to be samples and synths by and large, otherwise it's not really techno! A stereotype would be that all techno is driven by 4/4 bass-lines. And, since techno is a blanket genre with many, many, sub-genres, you're coming across kind of foolishly right now.

All jazz music has syncopated rhythms with changing keys.
So you think that Jazz cant stay with one rythm without changing it up? That is true for some people but definantley not all. It's steady and smooth all the way, oh yeah.

All of Daft Punk's songs could have the phrase "Around the World" put into it and it would fit.

This thread amuses me greatly!
Ok, here's mine: all country songs are a) about spreading conservative values (you know, Jeebus, cowboy life, simplicity of country life, marriage, etc), b) animal molestation, or c) both.
