Well yes, Giegue (as I like to think of him before he became Giygas) was only on a mission to destroy the humans out of his obligation to his race, as he was raised to be the Cosmic destroyer. But after his initial defeat, what he did to himself in order to be able to overcome his emotions and destroy the humans seems a little extreme for someone who was only in it because he had to be. Also, when he lost control of his mind, you would think that he only continues his destructive behaviour because of what he had become, but he shows that he is still intent on destruction regardless because of the Devil's machine, which contains his power and keeps his mind intact. While in the machine he continues to brainwash people and lead his starmen army.
True, but by the time that the party comes around to fight Giygas, his mind is gone...
Come to think of it, it was Pokey that told us that, and we know that little prick has been a thorn in our side. How the hell can he be close to him and not be destroyed?
I may need to finish the first game, there seems to be a lot there that's left unsaid about our ultimate destroyer.
