Yes, sci-fi games are awesome, who wouldn't want that. But, I'm thinking more about the survival of our species here. We are incredibly open to many extinction level events that just having another group immune in case something does happen might save us.
And I realize technology has a long way to go. But, look what we've done since the first Apollo missions. They were using computers as big as rooms with the processing power of calculators. Technology will catch up, its more a matter of having the politics and having a drive to do it.
