-History: Fleeing from the third World War of 2030, bands of various splinter groups from multiple countries headed to the last unpopulated continent. The sparse clusters of settlements forced a looser governance, where each outpost of the UAF had its own bylaws but would contribute to defense. The other governments who had former claims withdrew them, unable to use or reclaim them. The Falkland Islands (and their requisite government) are trading and allied partners, as the UAF fights off Argentinian 'nationalist' claims at the islands.
-Freedom: Some federally universal, others added vary by settlement. No settlement leaves it at the federal documents.

-Languages: None official in any settlement*. Common occurring seems to be English, Spanish, and Mandarin; other languages also exist but are less common.
-Religion: None official in any settlement*. Whatever religions are common in the Third War era, including an unusually large amount of Jedi for such a population. Several Jedi counsels are rumored to exist, all in settlements.
*These measures are largely pragmatic in origin, as the UAF maintains a large amount of fluidity regarding demographics - shifts are heavily anticipated, even if immigration is controlled out of necessity. However, the human rights angle is usually regarded as fortunate.
