I need something to fill the hours of work where the phone isn't ringing.

As for what i like, here's a list of some i've been watching and enjoying lately

Gundam 00
Rin; Daughters of Mnemosyne
Ergo Proxy
Code Geass
Tenga Toppen Gurren Laggan
Planetes
Ghost in the Shell (Every episode/movie)
Evangelion
Trigun
Gungrave
Casshern Sins
Elfen Lied
Macross Frontier
Geneshaft

Preferably want more grown up sci fi stuff and as few episodes as possible. No 300 episode epics please, i don't have *that* much spare time.

Thanks!

*EDIT*

I should clarify that these are anime i've watched/re-watched in the last 12 months not all the anime i've seen ever.

Love Cowboy Bebop and Outlaw Star as much as the next person it's just a general list of the kind of anime i've been in the mood for.

Death Note. It's the only anime other than Code Geass I have really enjoyed... (it kind of has a similar premise too, since the main character is the villain).

Let me be (one of) the first to say: please use the search function before you make a thread.

Besides that; .Hack is pretty awesome and unique.

It isn't sci-fi, but I can always heartily recommend Kara no Kyoukai. Please note though, the 7 "episodes" are everything from 40 minutes to full-fledged films.

Also, Mushi-shi if you can get your hands on it.

Technically, the main character of Code Geass was not the villain, he only pretended to be near the end of the series for a massive Xanatos Gambit that would rid the world of evil

I did.

Nothing really jumped out at me so i thought to put a list of stuff i like in lieu of an anime version of jinni.com or pandora.com.

G Gundam- Corny at times, but it's somehow still great. 49 Episodes
Yu Yu Hakusho - Can't help but recommend my favorite. Not sci-fi though. 112 Episodes
Cowboy Bebop - Just all around great. 26 Episodes

I'll just stick to recommending those 3.

I never search for them my self, but "anime recommendation threads" are the most common type of thread on The Escapist, so I would expect thousands of search results.
- My bad if that isn't the case.

I recently been watching this one called Durarara. It involves a bunch of (to put it nicely) strange characters in a big city in japan. The big thing they are mostly involved in some big company doing some illegal human experimenting, and the "main" character who is some kind of headless immortal irish fairy who is try to find her head. I have only seen the first few episodes, but so far so go if a bit weird. But what anime isn't a bit weird?

He's definitely what I would consider a villain. The only thing that made him different was...
... that he actually succeeded. However he did this by being the mysterious leader of a terrorist organisation and creating massive, intricate (and at times, evil) plots to swing things his way.

He had good intentions, but most good villains have good intentions. (I said "good" too many times in that sentence, but I'm too tired to think of another way to word it.)
