so before i start i want to say that this is going to be another rant thread...
anyway after playing for a while i can safely say this:
Dammit Bf3 fanboys why didn't i listen to you!
because so far i am not having fun with this game... and you know why?
because it feels like they made it for the sugar injected little "clans" because so far there's only 2 types of maps
Rural clusterfucks
and Urban clusterfucks
and the way these maps are set up is to the point where if you use
LMGs: you lose.
Sniper rifles:you lose.
shotguns:you lose because of how shitty they made them.
so i guess in short: this isn't CoD... MW2 and BloPs where better than this mess with Call of Duty stapled onto it...

Don't worry. There will be map packs for you to buy for $15 in a short while so you can have suburban clusterfucks added to the list.

I decided after I completed the rather samey campaign in Black Ops in 5 hours that I wasn't going to buy another COD game for the foreseeable future and definitely not at full price. I've never really found the multiplayer all it's been cracked up to be, and a game should be able to stand up on its single player mode alone so I don't see why I should part with almost 50 quid for a rehash of the previous year.

That sounds pretty much like MW2 except for the bit about the shotguns. Coming off of Blackops where your in a jungle, then a city, then a compound, MW3 doesnt seem that vaired.

at least in Mw2 for most of the maps you could use the smallest SMG to the biggest sniper rifle and win

I think that was more because everything was over-balanced and required no tactical thinking about weapons.

With the exception of one CoD fanboy, no one I know has given it a good reference and I'm not surprised; it can't hope to be as good without IW's old guard; even they managed to botch MW2 in my books. In my opinion BF3 is better, but I wouldn't say its stellar; I've not bought BF3 (played it at a friend's so far) and I'll probably buy it in a month or two after the exams so that I can play with my mates, but after MW2 and BlOps, Activision... nah. Might borrow it to play the campaign once, but nah.

I will to agree. MW2 was my favorite mp game simply because of how varied and the reasonable size of the maps. I don't feel like playing mw3 mp for more than 30-40 minutes now. Smaller maps also make the respawn system to be completely unfair. I get killed by dude A and u respawn behind him almost immediately. Additionally, with the uav smaller maps almost make feel like a retard always eyeing the minimal because someone might be inthe next room versus larger maps where my eyes are more important than a minimap. I don't think I'm enjoying mw3 as much as i would love to.

MW3 is an amazing game, the mechanics of the game itself are the best of the series by far.

... the maps though. Yeesh. There's a blind corner to camp on about every 9 feet. The longest line of sight on ANY map is less than 100 yards. Sniping is practically impossible without host because of how close-range the maps are and how quickly ARs/SMGs kill you.

The jist of the problems in MW3 all relate to how the maps are designed. They're too focused on anti-spawn trapping (bad spawns galore!) and keeping the gameplay offensive... which means Sniping is impossible and people will sit on corners to prevent being shot in the back all the time. Ironically, by trying to "keep the game offensive", they've made it more campy.

A map pack with a bunch of large open maps would remedy every problem I've had with the game so far.

I don't buy call of duty games anymore for one reason: I was once playing what I thought was Black Ops, but which turned out to be MW2. I might have that backwards, but I seriously couldn't tell the difference between them.

The biggest flaw in MW3 is how it's become an even more casual game because of the experience system. If you are a low level and your opponent is the top level in experience, you are fucked. Prestiging is now a big disadvantage. It shouldn't be this way and it never was in any other call of duty. In black ops, cod4 and mw2 you could compete fine with the starting weapon and class and unlocking the other stuff was only a small help.

But it has to be said, people only hate COD now because of how popular it is. If it sold 3m units total, you'd never see anyone criticising it, but because it's the best selling game people feel entitled to it being the best objectively also.

Do admit from a few nights worth of play at a friends house that this game is bad. Just not feeling it as I did with other cods.

I work at a CEX and the amount of people who have come in to sell copies of MW3 over the last few days has been shocking.
