A little silly, but what's wrong with it?

Also, Sonic was always a marketing ploy. There's nothing wrong with "selling him out."
With Sonic Generations, Sega actually managed to win back a bit of trust from the fans who have been punished with horrible Sonic games for years. And now that they've got that trust, they use him to sell car insurance. It's just...a bit insulting. I mean really, if Sega is hurting for money they should make another good Sonic game. Not use him as a cheap ploy to get people to buy insurance.
Exactly. He was just beginning to get good again.

* Sarcasm sign*
Guess this was a sign for them to go back to their old ways because sonics rep has been completely healed by this one good game after 6 years of shit.
And you somehow think that one 30-second commercial somehow invalidates the quality of Generations and guarantees that the next game will be bad?

No no no. Generations was fucking bawling. But Sega is just getting cocky or thinks that we have forgotten the 6 years of bullcrap before it. Generations was great. But it did not make us forget the bad shit. it will take more then just one good game to get sonic back to superstar status.

I am reminded of what a certain Aussie once quoted..

"First thought: Why the fuck does Sonic the Hedgehog need a car? Second thought: why the fuck does Sonic the Hedgehog still need to still exist?"

Oh no, a character from a recent good game is in a commercial!

That TOTALLY means they're selling out...

Being in a commercial (no matter how unrelated) has nothing to do with selling out.

I don't really care about Sonic being in any commercials, but I want to express my hatred of those progressive ads in general. So obnoxious.

So long as they keep on track with Generations quality, they can advertise whatever the hell they want.

Because Sonic Generations is worth it.

It's stupid and pointless, sure (kind of thought this sort of thing died out a couple of decades ago), but the problem for thinking the character's some kind of holy artifact that's above such things is as much yours as it is Sega's for proving it wrong.

Does anybody really care enough about Sonic (as in the character, not the games) to be in the slightest bit perturbed by this?

We're talking about a blue cartoon hedgehog who run fast and jumps over shit, not the works of Tolstoy.

Oh that's not the worst thing I've seen. Subway had two sandwich making guys distracting DARKSEID!!! (I mean seriously?!) while the Green Lantern's ring powered up.

I bought Generations in the steam sale haven't played it yet but I'll probably turn the sound off in the cut scenes...>_>

Do subway sandwiches have like pcp in now or something? Cos those are some brave dudes...

Sonic is selling car insurance

Eh, it's not so much a blemish on Sonic as it is a sad, sad look at what our Videogame heroes are forced to do in their downtime, become corporate whores.
You know the economy's in bad states when even a blue hedgehog needs to pimp his image just to get by.

My heart goes out to Sonic, and all those affected by these tough economic circumstances.
And Snake! Don't forget Snake! He's done ads for energy drinks!
