I'm 20 and I think kids are more foul mouthed, less disciplined and have worse taste in music than they did when I was in elementary school. Yup, I feel older than I should.
This only I am 26 turning 27 this year.

I pretty much look at video games now and the first thought that comes into my head is judging the difficulty of a game with compairing it to a NES game like Mario Bros or Shadow of the Ninja or the TNMT games.(Those from my generation would probably understand)

I am somewhat ashamed of the youth of this generation in general (There are a few that actually have gotten my respect and I am not saying all kids younger than I are horrible but a large percentage is)... I hope it smartens up...

Receding hairline, kidney stones, achy knees, and a perma-gimped shoulder! Gotta love being 22!

Other things that make me feel old? Realizing that my sister is starting university in September, that I'm done university in 18 months, and having a semi-intelligent conversation with someone who can't tell me where they were on 9/11, because they weren't born yet.

Last time I got a cold, I couldn't help but recall how when I was in Elementary and early Highschool, I used to relish the illness, happy I didn't have to attend class. Now it's just fucking irksome. >_<

I feel old when I read this thread and realize that nearly every one of you bitching about, "feeling old" are under thirty. I'm 43. I was around for the introduction of the first digital watches, pocket calculators, home pc's, the birth of the home console gaming market, etc, etc.

I felt old when i dug out a box of old games n stuff from back in the n64 days. Cassest tape of Lead Zeppelin, the missing half to my dmc collection, my copies of the legand of zelda(gold plated original and majoras mask) and gbc ones. An snes shocked me with its appearance. Then i look at my wii, and 360 thinking, damn i am old, and those little shits probably would sell my stuff to a museum, after hot wiring my trans am(79).

19 days till i am 19, has stuff thats older than him and it makes me feel old. Now i just need to find a damn walkman or something, i wanna listen to this tape.

Finding out that the player character in Deus Ex Human Revolution is 6 days older than me according to the timeline. That just really shocked me. Considering that game is set in "the future", the fact that the protagonist was even born yet seems odd to me. I know that it makes perfect mathematical sense, but the fact that I will be around in "the future" made me feel old for some reason...

*le talking to ten-year-old kid whose playing Pokemon Black

Me: So, have you caught Reshiram yet?

Kid: Yeah, I've got most of them 'cause I traded with my friends on the computer.

Me: You're lucky, back when I was a kid there was no online trading system. I always had to find somebody with a copy of the game and a link cable so I could get Mewtwo or the legendary birds into my Silver version.

Kid: Get what?

Me: Mewtwo and the legendary birds...Zapdos, Articuno and Moltres? They weren't in the Johto games back then.

Kid: Johto...?

Me: Yeah, Johto, y'know the second country? Cyndaquil, Chikorita, and Totodile? Mewtwo and the birds were only in Kanto in the first games.

*Kid gives me to most vacant stare ever*

Me: ...KANTO! The place where Ash and Pikachu came from? I know you watch that show still!

Kid: Ash comes from Palette Town...

Me: Yeah, that's in Kanto! That was the first season!

Kid: ...You mean Sinnoh?

Me:

When people in MY YEAR at college tell me I'm like someone from a different time (for being gentlemanly to people) and when I'm told I'm an old man in a young man's body because I have incredibly cynical and frustrated reactions to things people say/how they dress.

I've already made several people have startling revelations about how their latest iteration of slang makes them sound like complete cunts.

Sadly, I've been having a lot more of those "God I'm old" moments lately.
Most notably when I thought about the following:
*I used to watch movies on VHS.
*Some of my favorite films, that I saw as a kid, are now between one and two decades old.
*When I mention things like dial up, phone booths, or surfing the web I'm met with blank stares.
*When talking with friends, we say things like "Remember when we were kids and..." or "What ever happened to..."
*My ten year high school anniversary is this year.
*I actually recall thinking as a kid how far off years like 2012 were.

I'm 28.

... hmm .. because I remember that I used to do this to load a game:

1) CGA
2) EGA/VGA
3) SVGA

Followed by this:

1) PC Speaker
2) Adlib
3) Sound Blaster
4) MIDI
5) No Sound

Followed by this:

1) Keyboard
2) Joystick

Or even, sometimes, this:

3) Paddle
Oh God. Why? WHY?! Why did you have to remind me? Now I feel even older.

I'm not really old enough yet to have any particularly bad "God I'm old" moments (I'm only 17 for goodness' sake), but I do remember one of the first few times I had one of those moments. It was when I was at Cadets one night and one of the instructors mentioned He-man (Master of the Universe) and no-one knew what it was, so I ended up having to try and explain it... which went about as well as you'd imagine.

Also, when I see kids in the school I was in only 5 years ago and think, "Little shits!"
Pretty much this, except replace 21 with 23. It's silly as all hell, but actually having to be a responsible adult makes me feel incredibly old for some reason.

I expected 20-somethings to be in here, considering that's when you become "grow up" and become an adult. I am surprised there haven't been more 30+ responses here. I suppose the Escapist is going to primarily be late teen/early adult crowd, so that might be some of it.

Turning on the Dreamcast.

I'm not sure if its the fanfare of broken discs or the fanfare of nostalgic tears, but both work.

When I see all the new-fangled toys the kids have these days and the strange cartoons they watch, thing were so much better in my day! I'm 17, my day wasn't even that long ago!
