Sex was all over the place.
So was Herpes.

Just because it was there during the era doesn't mean it should be in the game. I fail to see how this mini-game is going to make the game better. People can argue about how its "art" or whatever but ultimately most games just want it into the game because they want some titties.
it's not that it's "art" it's tradition a GOW without a sex minigame is not a GOW and you don't see titties just rattling furniture lol
That is pretty misguided to say the least.

@Gigaguy - Hmmm... I really think that places in Europe continue to practice that aspect of their culture. America's just repressed so our boys aren't turning to men as they should. But that's an entirely new can of worms.

@Hardcore gamer - I agree but if they can make it a part of the game rather than some repressed "Shh... Don't tell anyone" part which was the first few games, then maybe, just maybe, it might be a decent aspect. If it's shoehorned in just because it was in the first two games, then yes, your point is valid.

@L90BL - Sometimes, tradition can change. ;)

Sounds like they are waffling. To be honest I think if anything we need not only more sex, but more graphic sex in video games. There has yet to be an "M" rated game that has pushed things as far as an "R" movie and that's wrong.

I see no reason why sex needs to be ultra-integral to the plot either. It's sex, it's entertaining, everyone is interested in it!

Oh sure, a lot of people will argue the point, but "naughty bits" usually improve a product, and honestly looking at the sex scenes in games like Mass Effect and Dragon Age, I think a bigger "pay off" would have actually benefitted the game.

That said if the God of War team thinks it's big enough of a deal to warrent discussion and justification... have Kratos castrated in one of his battles. Make it sort of like Herr Starr in Preacher... while fighting some huge dog about waist high comes running at him from behind, he turns to face it and CHOMP! bye bye go his wrinklies just as he slams his weapon down through it's head to kill it....

The design team gets to be happy, people get some lulz, it makes a statement, and not only will there never have to be a sex scene again, but it's also an excuse to hire a new voice actor if they want one. I recommend the guy who played "Alvin" in the "Alvin and the Chipmunks" movies. :p

Generally speaking I think it's better if they stop trying to justify it, and actually set out to create the best interactive sex scenes ever within the game. Such are my thoughts.
There are many children who already get access to 18 rated games, it would be better to limit the damage caused. And also, porn and games should stay as seperate entities, they don't need to be combined.
too late japan already combined the two

O.T. a sex mini-game in god of war wouldn't hurt the game but wouldn't help it

Doesn't anyone else find it ironic that they were trying to cut the sex mini-game? the sole reason they aren't is because of media complaints, they can't afford to look like they're giving in.

But then what counts as a sex scene. =/
There's no chance you can call the moments in Dragon Age or Assassin's Creed II sex scenes, I've seen Disney Cartoons that do a better job of it than they did. It's like going back to Neverwinter Nights where you click on a button and it says congratulations, you slept with a prostitute! +50xp.

It has to have a point?

.....

have they actually played God of War at all?

It's Kratos...the fact that it doesn't have to have a point, is basically the point in itself when it comes to that character.
If anything else the randomness of the sex scene, the complete lack of emotion, the fact that the scene has no point except that it's a gratuitous thing Kratos felt like taking at that moment pretty much helps the story environment.

It's Kratos, we love him, but he's also a pretty flawed self centered jerk, which is precisely part of the reason we love him.

They're right, taking it out would look like backing down to the media, adding it in as meaningless filler makes them look almost as silly.

I disagree entirely. I do not think things should be regulated because children MIGHT get their hands on it, or find ways of doing so. That defeats the entire point of having ratings. If your going to use that logic, nothing more sophisticated than Barney The Dinosaur would be created. Kids getting their hands on this stuff is totally on the heads of parents.

What's more when it comes to sex, I tend to take a "big fucking deal" type approach to it. Truthfully kids getting access to sexual material strikes me as being part of growing up and learning about life. Heck, we made movies about kids and sex like "Porky's" and "American Pie". I'm one of those who think we need to lighten up a bit, and supports increased sex education in school, along with handing out birth control and condoms.

The overall point here being that I have less trouble with sex in games, or kids checking out centerfolds and adult magazines, than I do with the violent content and the context it's presented in within "M" rated titles. I don't things should be banned, and should actually be enhanced to be honest, but at the same time the ratings should stay high and parents should pay closer attention to what their kids have. Excuses like "parents are too busy to learn about games" are complete BS, because evaluating what your kids get to have has ALWAYS been part of the parenting process.

When it comes to sex in general, I do not believe that just because something has sex in it, that it's automatically a "porno". Like an R-rated movie or a horror movie, you can have sex involved without the entire production having to be made about, or revolving around, sex.

I guess we will have to agree to disagree.

I spent a lot of time on these forums defending sex and violent in the media. I think there is no such thing as "too far" to be honest. Just because I think the sky should be the limit with entertaining adults, does not mean that I do not agree with limitations on what kids should see or have access to. I do not however think that the entire human creative process should be held back due to the existance of children. Right now we do not face a video game crisis, a media crisis, a sex crisis, or a violence crisis, all we face is a parenting crisis. A problem that has been ongoing for decades with something ALWAYS being turned into
a boogeyman since nobody is willing to take responsibility for their kids, or with calling people on bad parenting and taking appropriate action.
Well I guess I'd agree that parents on the whole are useless and only make these things worse by not preventing their children from gaining access to the games. But until laws are implemented to punish people for playing games underage the problem will persist. Aside from that God of War is supposed to be a violent action-packed game rather than a perverted leisure suit larry one.

What?!?!?! GOW3 without sex??!?!

That's like Mario without the mushroom
Starfox without the ships
Ninjas without the gaidens (wtf?)
Fat people without hamburgers.

Nice to see them stick to the normal formula of sex + gore

Always = Awesome.

Dunno how they're going to tie it in with the story.

The battle would be long and hard.

Bad jokes aside, Why have it? The people who are truly interested in this game aren't going to be getting it for virtual sex, they'll get it for the combat and not a interactive Q.T.E. with moans in the background, will they?

PS: I have never played any of the GOW series, and don't plan to, if you want to correct me about the Q.T.E., do so.

Did you... just post in third person as a Pokemon? *blink* I see you do that a lot. Right on... Just wanted to make sure I wasn't reading a schizophrenic post or I really just missed something...

Sorry if I've missed something, but why do you write Calumon on most posts?
Well when I changed My avatar to Calumon from the Digimon World Box-art, (like an hour after I changed it) someone sent me a message saying, "Your Calumon can't be cute. He doesn't talk." So to prove said un-named person wrong, every post I do ever since, I post Calumon's point of view. Think of it as RP-ing and sticking it to the well spoken man.

Calumon: Silly! I'm a Digimon! I don't fit in pockets! I run around and be FREEEEE!!! YAY!!!

Some enemies cannot be conquered with blades.

I think they should have you meet a women who has information you need to proceed in the game, and you have the option of having sex to woo it out of her, or to torture her Jack Bauer style. And of course the torture would be it's own mini game. That would really 1-up the prequels. And get the media's panties in a bunch.
