Have you ever looked at a girl and think that she is the most beautiful thing on the face of the earth? Does she only go out with guys for "superficial reasons?" Do you think about what you are going to say to her one day all the time?
Of course you've never actually talked to her, but you know she is amazing and beautiful and if only she saw what a sensitive and caring person you are, she would stop dating jerks and stay with you forever.
Does any of the above sound familiar? If it does, you are suffering from something called "goddess syndrome."
Let me put it to you this way: people aren't perfect. Nobody is. She isn't, you aren't. What is happening is that romantically repressed men often project all of their anxieties on to one person, (often of the opposite sex, but not always)and they tell themselves that that person is the greatest person in the world. I don't want to be mean, but the odds are she's just another girl. My friend once got himself so worked up over this one girl, convinced that she was the most beautiful thing on the planet, and that if she only saw what a good person he was they would go out. Later on I was talking to her and found out that she was actually shallow, rude, and a snob.
Now I'm not saying that all of the people you have crushes on are bad people. What I am saying is that chances are they're not as special as you make them out to be. They're probably just another girl/boy, and you need to stop obsessing over someone you've never even spoken to.
