Godzilla: King of the Monsters trailer.

So far, the basic premise from this trailer is reminding a lot of Primal Rage:


Then again that's probably already the premise of the old Godzilla movies and Primal Rage just ripped it off

But holy shit does this looks sick just by visuals alone. Hopefully we see more mosnter fights then we got in the last Godzilla film.

Michael Dougherty is directing this. That's all I need to know. And eventhough this is Legendary, meaning probably heavily geared toward the Chinese market, it's still great to see this guy being given a huge budget to dip in to.

I don't get this, is it supposed to be a sequel to the Godzilla with Cranston in it, or a sequel to Kong Skull Island?

In any case it looks pretty cool. That the giant flying thing fucks up the ground beneath it because of its immense size makes for a great shot.

Never seen any of that in Godzilla movies although I have not watch all the old movies, but worship of Monsters was certainly a thing in the Primal Rage game.

I wanted Godzilla in his 2014 movie to litirally be a metaphor for Nuclear Destruction, I wanted him to be as scary and invincible as the Tripods were in Speilberg's War of the Worlds.

Wasn't that always Mothra's schtick?

3-4 monsters means barely any of them will get screen time. Between establishing the human characters, monster reveal scenes, monster traveling/destruction scene and more human scenes each monster gets to fight Godzilla for like 5, maybe 6 mins top.

And the old movies were terrible. Magical ferries, secret agents, espionage, Godzilla becomes a hairy dad bod kaijua, King Kong shows up at one point, and several of the movies are basically compilation movies, just fight scenes strung together from separate movies.

you're missing out, the scenes off him stomping through the city and using atom breath are some of the best. Admittedly the Americans acting is a little off (can't think of a better way to describe it. Cheesy maybe?) but i'd still highly recommend it

It is, since the Japanese movie industry isn't exactly thriving. It's worth seeing just for the weird Godzilla shit. Hideaki Anno has a way of infusing Kaiju with a creepy sense of dread.

I'm a big Daikaiju fan, so I'm really looking forward to this. King Ghidorah is said to be over 500 feet tall., dwarfing Godzilla. They said even more monsters then advertised will appear in the film.

Wow, lets get the girl from Stranger Things to be in our Godzilla movie. Oh, well we better make the whole world all dark and foggy and overcast like "the upside down" from Stranger Things too. After all, deciding what one of a movie's major plot points and entire setting is in order to trick trailer audiences into believing it may be the trailer for a different, really popular thing for a second or two is a GREAT IDEA. Also, lets for the first time in movies that have been around since 1954 refer to the monsters as _____ because _____ is in the title of a popular anime, making people think its the big Hollywood version of that for a second or two... because that is an equally great idea.

When your movie trailer spends all of its effort trying to make the movie look like something else... until they begrudgingly reveal the title in the last seconds like "surprise, its another shit Godzilla movie." I can't say that inspires any confidence. I'll probably just watch Rampage. It should be on a streaming service by then.

And every trailer only reveals the title at the end. Like seriously check any trailer for any movie right now. Well, they try and make it look like a Stranger Things trailer, making the world (which in previous Godzilla movies was more or less normal) all smoky and dark and foggy like Stranger Things' "the upside down." They refer to the kaiju as Titans, and then directly after you see a fairly humanoid shape emerging from the "totally not the upside down." Hmmm, gigantic humanoid Titans attacking a big city that looks kind of like its walled itself in... Yeah that screams Godzilla and not Attack on Titan at all. And I didn't click to see a Godzilla preview. It autorolled when I was watching a youtube video. The begrudging title reveal at the end of the trailer was the first time I saw any reference to anything that looked like it may be a Godzilla movie.

Then again, I don't remember the trailer I saw earlier being over 2 minutes long, so maybe I just saw somehow the first and last of it. In the embedded trailer they pretty clearly show Godzilla halfway into it and I didn't see that part in the trailer I saw earlier. I would have hit "skip ad" if there was a 2 minute movie trailer autorolling on a video I was watching. And if it were the embedded trailer I'd have hit skip ad as soon as I saw what was Godzilla.

Seriously, the big fat Godzilla reveal at the halfway point where he emerges from the sea and barfs an atomic beam into the sky didn't tip you off at all?! And Stranger Things didn't invent dark and foggy, nor did it popularize it. The previous '14 movie was dark and foggy. And humanoid shape? You mean Godzilla, who is shaped like Godzilla? And what exactly looks like a wall, apart from the big block of ice that has an obvious giant, non-humanoid monster frozen inside? And again, the word 'titan' has been around and overused in media a long time before Attack on Titan got popular. I honesty have no idea where you're getting 'screams Attack on Titan' from this trailer.
