A neat win for GoG, I guess, but nothing I'm interested in. I imagine Borderlands will show up in a few months, as well.

Alas, it's just another thing on GoG that's not the old Mechwarrior games, redone so they work on modern operating systems without sacrificing several virgins to Elder Gods. I feel like the kid during Christmas who gets socks instead of the newest gaming system.

That's amazing! I love GOG and I love them getting more and more games. I especially like that they finally got 2K games, they have already, finally stocked up on X-COM games. I expect newer XCOM titles to eventually be released as well. Which is great news - I already got the pack of the old X-COM. It just seemed too good to pass up.

I'm calling it now; They're going to be releasing Oni there soon. It's a game that no one remembers, yet everyone knows. It'll be interesting to see if this will cause some lost titles to re-appear. Didn't the original Mafia game go AWOL after a while on Steam? Was it because 2K lost the license, or was it something else?

Wait, is that 2K property? If so, that'd be SO SWEET. I'd love to play Oni again. I was, in fact, thinking of doing that recently but didn't have my copy with me and I suspect I'd have had to also find a way to get it to work. Which shouldn't be that hard, admittedly, but it's just an extra something.

I do hope you are correct.

I did some quick research, and it's a bit of a confusing mess. From what I can find, the rights to Oni belonged to Bungie originally. Partway through the development, Bungie was bought by Microsoft, but they had a distribution deal with Take-Two, who managed to acquire the licenses for Oni and Myth. And 2K is a subsidiary of Take-Two and appears to be the general "We'll throw whatever licenses we can't fit into Firaxis or Rockstar Games into this pool" developer.

... So I guess there's a chance it might appear?

Well, they got System Shock 2, in the end, and that was in a big fucking mess, as well. So, here's hoping that Oni eventually makes it.

I had a ton of fun with Railroad Tycoon 2 back in the day, and still own it. My biggest grip was how expensive it was to buy trains and what not. Really slowed down how long it took to get a decent railroad network going. And made fulfilling objects needed to be done for essential resources harder. And while it took a couple of runs over a few years to really get the hand of RT (I was a kid), it was time well spent.

GOG getting more powerful is only doing good for the PC market at this point. Valve is not pushing hard enough (if at all) to drastically reduce DRM practices, even though they practically control the PC market. Outside of a select few like Blizzard that sells their games through Battlenet.
