damn you gog i bought it before the sale. I'm not sure about redemption is it worth getting since i have bloodlines
As I said, Redemption isn't Bloodlines. You won't get the same plot or characters from it. Not even the same gameplay -it's more Diablo-y. However, if you like the setting it's really good. Really awesome on the whole Vampire thing and to top it off it goes from Dark Ages to modern to show a broader spectrum of the World of Darkness. And the Disciplines are mostly in line with their PnP counterparts for a more authentic feel. The best part is that the multiplayer offers lots of tools to run your own chronicle.

Take that as you will. What I'm saying is that if you want more WoD, then go for it. And besides it's 3$, it's not like you're losing a lot.
Is Redemption oWoD like Bloodlines or is it nWoD...just curious because I hate nWoD with a passion.

It's oWoD. It's older than Bloodlines, too. Also, there are no nWoD games. There are several Hunter ones (2-3, I believe) for one or two consoles in total - you can look them up if you're interested. I have no actual idea of their quality.

Yeah getting both would probably be a good idea considering they are fun.
You should also consider getting Caesar 3 in the sale too if you like city building sims.

Redemption was a huge MEH for me. Arcanum is visually 'dry' but considering you've already seen it's ilk you'll probably have no problems diving right into the rich expanses of it's story and setting.

Dude, the standard price for those games is more than worth it. On sale? Not a question.

And also, thanks for letting me know Arcanum is on sale! Grabbing it right now.

I love GOG.
No DRM, easy install, random extras, good price.

I've spent WAY too much on them.

The Hunter games were pretty mediocre. A decent enough way to waste some time with a friend, but nothing memorable.

Such a shame the Werewolf game got cancelled...

Let's put this into perspective, 2 coffees are over 3 dollars, a sandwich is over 3 dollars, now which are you going to enjoy more? And what kind of world do we live in where people can't spare 3 dollars for games that will last a very long time, as opposed to something you'll finish in under five minutes?
Get them.

So I've played through (or started and not finished) a couple of the Black Isle Studios, Troika, Obsidian, whatever the hell they wanna call themselves games like Planescape, Fallout New Vegas, Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines, and I've generally loved what I've seen.

So right now gog.com is having a sale on Arcanum and Vampire The Masquerade Redemption, they're 3 dollars each. So my question to you is should I buy them? Have you played them and how were they?
Arcanum yes, definatly, that's the only game I've found that will let me destroy doors with a disintergrate spell. :)

Vampire: Redemption is a less crucial purchuse, interesting story, but pretty linear. I consider it a shadow of it's sequel "Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines".

Bloodlines is not a sequel. It is just another game in the same setting. The two have nothing in common aside from that.

But yes, the story is pretty linear. In fact I just remembered the ending. It was slightly Mass Effect-ish (not in disappointment level).

There are three endings. In one you are an evil bastard, in another you're a good her (pretty standard for now) and in the is not neutral. You were warned. You get a choice only if your humanity is in sufficient level range. If it's too low, sorry - Christof presumably goes to set some babies on fire after the game (I still found it satisfying). If his humanity is too high - he automatically becomes a righteous hero (but remember that this is World of Darkness). If it's middle-ish (something like 30-70 or something) you have an option.

Humanity ranges from0 to 100 and is lost by killing innocent people (5 points per person, IIRC) and if it hits 0 you lose. Just a word of warning. Also, you can only gain Humanity during few of the dialogues and you have to choose the most, well, humane answers of course. You can also lose humanity through dialogues. It's 5-15 Humanity or something on very few dialogues but just saying. If you're running low on Humanity, try to not indulge in evilness, or you'd have to load and repeat.

No, no, no, no, no. Come on, people, did you actually -play- Redemption? It's fucking horrible! The voice acting is dry, the combat is dull, the plot is predictable, and the characters are cardboard.

well I have no idea but I have just set up a GOG account which was bloody easy (I was surprised) and am downloading Arcanum now after my small amount of research but heck even if I hate it I can spare 1 pound 89 pence and no DRM? hell yeah its not like ill be making loads of copies but I dont have to worry when I reset my PC now.

Now if only planescape was on sale I could try that.

Planescape had a two-for-one with a bunch of other D&D games a couple weeks ago, so I wouldn't expect to see it go on sale any time soon.

That man is correct, however it's worth waiting. GOG do sales every weekend and Planescape is a fairly popular item. You might get it by the end of the year easily.

I wanted Arcanum a long time ago, but the reviews in magazines swore it was tedious with lots of bland lifeless landscape. I'd still get it if I ran across it though.
Well, you're in luck! Right now it's only 3 bucks down from 6 on GOG.com - you can't get a better deal than that. Both about the price and about where you get it from.

Vampire Redemption is a great story that unfortunately suffers from an old and sometimes obtuse and difficult to use control system (point and click adventure game) as well as 2-3 stupid teammates that will run into a room and, as often as not, die leaving you to do everything alone anyway. If they remade the game with bloodline's controls it would be the better game by far since the story is better.
Oh god, don't remind me about the team mates. I usually turn off their AI and leave them behind while I run ahead with Christof. Those guys are fucking imbeciles. "Oh, there are two targets to attack and each of them will die if I hit it three times. Better burn off half of my blood to buff myself for the fight!". Every. Fucking. Time. It's like they'd activate half a dozen Disciplines if they needed to kill a fly. If you do get to control them in the fight, it's fine, but if not - they'll just go and do stupid things.

If you do face a tough fight, then yes, it's OK to leave them on their own...mostly. But the other times, just don't stress them with fights. It makes their brains melt.
Dito, I also always turned them off, they were only useful for boss fights, though I never had a problem with them buffing themselves since I always turned their AI's abilities to cast spells off.

also the perfect strategy; turn yourself invisible, target enemies one at a time, fire rain at a distance, when they get close enough use the blood sword on them to suck them dry and keep you topped off.
