GoldenEye Will Blow You Up For Camping



Good news if you hate FPS campers: GoldenEye 007 will give you the opportunity to automatically blow them up.

If there's one thing that gamers tend to universally revile when they're playing shooters online, it's campers. While such behavior certainly isn't against the rules, it tends to irritate the hell out of everyone and generally ruins their fun until the camper manages to get taken out. However, the upcoming <a href=http://www.amazon.com/James-Bond-007-GoldenEye-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B003O6H7X0/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1281541771&sr=8-2>GoldenEye 007 will actually include a feature that pre-emptively solves the problem of campers by killing them off.

According to Bitmob, the game will include a modifier called "Move Your Feet." This modifier, when enabled, automatically causes any player who stands still for 3 seconds to explode. "It worked beautifully in practice," reports the site, "morphing the map into a hectic affair that zeroed out any chance of a foe settling in to camp."

Move Your Feet sounds great, but it isn't the only multiplayer modifier that will shake things up. Bitmob also explained that the game will feature at least a few more: "classic mods (golden gun, paintball mode) and the zany ones ('everyone's a midget')."

GoldenEye 007 has gradually been building up hype ever since it was revealed earlier this year. First, there was the news that a <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/7.225099-Play-GoldenEye-In-Style-With-Gold-Controller>Gold Controller Bundle would be released, and now there's this revelation. I have to say that the game just keeps on sounding better and better.

Wouldn't it be counterable by simply tapping left and right though?

It is quite nice to see some anti campers features, might make the game more fast paced instead of hide and seek.

But it makes the sniper in me weep.

Yeah, this is the one problem I see with it. While you shouldn't be CAMPING as a sniper... 3 seconds isn't very much time to find a target, aim, shoot, and move again, especially if the sniping mechanics are as rough-shod as they are in most 007 games.

At least it's not vanilla, you actually have to turn on the mod for it to work.

Three seconds? So that means if I have to sneeze or something I can't even stand still for a few seconds? I don't like this.

I don't like it.

Camping is the most realistic action anyone would do in such a situation. And I like to pretend I'm really in those games, I'm a role player. Noone sane would openly run around.

Stop ruining my perfectionistic desire for realistic actions!

If you stand still for only 3 seconds?! That's a horrible idea!
What if you simply stop moving because someone has come into the room to talk to you for 5 seconds? What if you're trying to take a highly difficult sniper shot? Standing still for 3 seconds is most certainly not necessarily for camping. Fantastic idea, terrible execution. I think this will get nerfed or removed quite soon.

Most games now don't have motion radar though. Instead they only pop on radar when they fire.

I will not deny, it is an annoying strategy however like any strategy it has draw backs and most people are too stupid to exploit them.

Is it's truly a remake then the game is meant to be played on the move anyways.

It's a good idea, but three seconds is way too short. It'll turn the maps into nothing more than sprint + m1. And I think that we can agree on how annoying THAT is.

Most games now don't have motion radar though. Instead they only pop on radar when they fire.
True, I guess it all depends on how (and if) the game does its radar. I can't remember how the radar in the original game worked (if it had one), but I do remember Perfect Dark having a motion-based one.

That's a fucking terrible idea.
Often in shooters I will jump down behind someone, stand still, and shoot them. Normally for more than 3 seconds.
