Just picked up FF12--fantastic, by the way.

Need to finish it by the launch of Guitar Hero 2 on November 7th, and then get ready for the Wii and Twilight Princess later that month. All the while testing the Burning Crusade expansion for WoW and writing about it--and not failing classes as a student.

Sheesh. Anyone else feeling kind of overwhelmed too?

I certainly am. With a one-two punch of Guitar Hero II and the Wii/Twilight Princess, I know I'm going to be eating ramen for a few weeks. And that's not including all the other games I'd like to get too: Caesar IV, Sid Meier's Railroads, Contact, Rocket Slime, Red Steel, Elebits, etc. I'll definitely be giving brownies as holiday gifts this year. :)

I'm with you on FFXII - I've only played a few hours in, but my current impression is that this is easily the biggest shift they've made to the series design since the move to 3D. The MMO influences from FFXI are very obvious, as is the deeper/darker feel that we saw in Final Fantasy Tactics (easily one of my all-time favorite games). I could easily be wrong at this point, but it feels like they've upped the maturity level.

Then there's also Guitar Hero II, a no-brainer, and Neverwinter Nights II. Marvel Ultimate Alliance (360) and Okami are in transit to my place care of gamefly right now as well, both of which are also at the top of my list. I was also looking forward to Viva Pinata for some bizarre reason, but I think it's going to have to wait.

Curse you holiday season! Curse you!

Just curious about FFXII... I've always found FF games a little hard to sit through because it seemed like every ten seconds they're ripping control away from you for a ten-minute CG cutscene. Then you fight one battle, move ahead one screen and it's another ten-minute cutscene. Is this one more interactive?

I'm right there with the overwhelmed feeling.

I've recently spent a bit of time in hospital and so I've had some time off for serious gaming.

Right now I'm around 80% through mario and luigi on the GBA, just picked up advance wars DS and am a few hours in (its awesome by the way), killed 10 in colossus, somewhere in the asylum in psychonauts (not sure how far through that is), somewhere nearing the end of prince: two thrones and no matter how hard I try, I just can't beat the last two songs on expert. Thats not counting metroid prime 2 which has been sitting at 2 and a half hours gametime for several months and I just havent managed to get back into it.

I have probably a week of sick leave left before I have to go back to work and my gaming time dries up to a couple hours a week, and unfortunately I have some real word stuff to do during that time. Looks like most of these games are gonna go unfinished :(

Looking at the near future, guitar hero 2 comes out very soon which is supposed to be even harder and have more songs (that is going to eat my days!) and then the wii launch just on the horizon. If zelda is truly a 70 hour affair, I don't think I'll have it done till well into the new year. I was hoping to pick up bully and a few ps2 platinum games that I missed due to only buying the console recently, and was also hoping to get a 360 but at this point I think its going to be less of a funding issue and more of a time to play issue that will be stopping me from buying any of these any time soon.

I'm not buying single-player games these days, my queue is just too long. I'm partway through Okami (PS2), Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones (GC), Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth (Xbox, playing on my 360), and Homeworld 2 (Mac). In addition, my girlfriend and I are chipping away at Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II (PS2) and Lego Star Wars II (360). Finally, I still play Lumines Live, Chromehounds, Guitar Hero, Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter, and even WarCraft III: The Frozen Throne to varying degrees.

On the other hand, I'm considering picking up Gears of War to play co-op with a friend. I guess I'd better get used to having a lot of games "in progress."

Guitar Hero II is going to have to wait, I think.

Added: Goof, of those games, I highly recommend that you finish Shadow of the Colossus. The ending is excellent.
