So, for the first time in my life I'm of the legal drinking age AND I'm living in a place where I'm allowed to keep alcohol, and I'd like to take advantage of this but I'm afraid I'm a bit unfamiliar with drinks. So I'm calling out to all of you this evening to ask: what drinks to you like to have at home or mix on your own?

Just to give you someplace to start, I'm not really interested in very hard liquor, just stuff that tastes nice and doesn't go down with too much difficulty, and that's good to enjoy cold (I might come back in the winter time to ask about warm drinks). I don't really like beer either, but if you have any ideas of beers that don't taste like your average beer I'd be willing to listen. So, bottoms up everyone!

It's not the classiest drink in the world but I find that white wine with a dash of white lemonade goes down nicely. Or Captain Morgans and Club Orange. Or vodka and coke.

Do you mean things like that or cocktails?

I wish I'd had a drink after work.

I personally drink Jameson Whiskey, neat, or some blackberry brandy, neat as well.

But if I have a cocktail there's nothing wrong with a Vodka7.

Just some good ole vodka and 7up with a lime because it makes the drink. :D

Yeah, I was thinking of stuff like that, just two or three ingredients at most, not too much fresh fruit involved. I have a bit of disposable income now, but not that much lol.

If you're on a tight budget, what you do is buy cheap vodka and run it through a coffee maker once or twice just so it won't taste so gross.

Other than that, I would get Stoli since it's not too expensive and not bad.

Well, I don't have a coffee maker, so I might go ahead and get some better stuff, lol. What ratios would you recommend? 2 parts 7Up to 1 part vodka?

It's up to you, but normally for me it's two finger lengths, and that includes the ice being in the glass when you pour, and then the rest with 7up.

A little more or a little depending on your day! :D

My absolute favorite is Bacardi Torched Cherry Liquor with coke zero.
I don't know if you will be able to find it where you are though. I live in Victoria B.C. Canada and it's only in a few privite stores here.
But yes anyways. It tastes EXACTLY Like cherry coke and the thing is it's 35% alcohol so you def need to be careful. It's super easy to get wasted cause you can't really taste the booze, you can have like four or five and then BAM. But it is soooo yummy.

Also I recomend gin and any fruit juice (my favorite is dark grape) and a little sprite or 7up. It you're feeling fancy you can even throw some fruit in.

Also fun tip. When grapes are in season wash and dry them then freeze them in a bag, they make great ice cubes for wine.

A good summer refresher is white whine, vodka, fresh mint, and lychee juice...served over crushed ice, lemon and lime slices, and lychees.

You will end up super drunk because they just taste so good!

Me and a friend took the day off work and made about three litres of home made Long Island Ice Tea. It went down easy; a bit too easy. I don't remember much because I was virtually comatose by the end of the day. I think I had a good time.

We made it with vodka, gin, tequila, rum, triple sec and coke.

The only drink I make is Sangria (Not a big drinker).

1 Bottle of Red Wine
1 Orange
1 Lemon
1 Lime
1 jalapeno seeded and diced (It might sound odd, but I swear this makes the drink)
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup Rum

Cut fruit into wedges, squeeze each wedge into a pitcher. Add the rest and stir until sugar is dissolved. Refrigerate for 8-12 hours.

This will get you a spicy, citrusy wine that I personally adore, along with some amazingly tasty fruit. Seriously, the oranges soaked in wine are probably the best part.

whiskey sour has always been a favorite as well as gin and tonic. whiskey sours can be made to any liking and a gin and tonic, if mixed right, will taste like 7Up. Also a little bit of Hot Damn and bubblegum pucker will taste like Big Red gum and if your a mint fan i would go with straight Dr. McGillicuddy's peppermint schnapps. Hands down the best the bests schnapps I've ever had

2-liter of Popov and packet of cool-aid mix. Serve cold.
Turns a very shitty (and very cheap) liquor into a OK-tasting mix.

Will. Get. You. Drunk.

About two fingers of Jack Daniel's with ice in the bottom of a glass, then squeeze the juice from half a lime on top of that, and add club soda. A very refreshing and delicious drink.

Or just drink the whiskey neat.

Or Scotch! Glenfiddich!

But you seemed to be asking for mixed drinks, so...

Diet 7up with whiskey is my favorite mixed drink.

Instead of beer I like drinking Hard Cider.

... I don't drink much.

I enjoy liqueurs myself, mostly because they can be enjoyed easily on their own or with mix, and can also be enjoyed warm or cool (some are better one way than the other, but I digress). A favourite is Frangelico Hazelnut Liqueur over ice, or mixed in with something like milk or tea.

If you like vodka then a Screwdriver is easy to make, 1 part vodka 2 parts orange juice.

Trader Vic's Macadamia Nut liqueur is also damn tasty over ice or in tea/coffee/hot chocolate.

Midori Midori Midori.

Absolutely delicious. Its a melon flavored liquor that is just phenomenal.

Other than that, my two drinks of choice are vodka and whiskey. Whiskey sours and Red Bull and Vodkas are great mixes.

Vlad's cure-all... Take russian standard vodka, put it in the freezer 'til it doesn't get colder, pour into glass, down it quick, repeat 'til floor becomes best friend.

That or do the first bit, but pour it into a glass 60/40 vodka/cream soda mix, drink fast, candied bullet is friend to the people!
