Final Fantasy games are a mixed bag; they can be pretty serviceable unique titles and decent enough ports, or complete shittrash ports or a circus of micro-transaction abuse. Here are my personal recommendations:

-Final Fantasy
-Final Fantasy II
-Final Fantasy 5
-Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions (might lag a bit)
-Final Fantasy: Dimensions
What did they do to Final Fantasy VI? Do I even want to know? What of Final Fantasy IV? Those two were my favorites after all...I hear IX is on mobile now and I really enjoyed that one and since IX is on I would assume VII and VIII are also and if that's the case, I can see how Squeenix would monetize VIII (here's a ton of magic, give us money).
I got VI as well; while the port itself is flawed but serviceable, the touchscreen controls can be downright infuriating to work with during the semi-realtime combat, especially for characters like Sabin who require specific input commands to execute attacks, or characters who have long menus of magic, items, or abilities to navigate while the enemies wail on you relentlessly.

EDIT: ...and as for IX, I have no idea, I haven't seen it at all myself; maybe I'll check it out later.

Imagine trying to play Final Fantasy VI with one hand tied behind your back, and while drunk. If you still think that'd be enjoyable because you like the game that much, you can go for it I guess. If there were an option to freeze combat when your characters' turns are ready, I may recommend it - that being said, I'm fairly certain you can just play the original SNES version on an emulator app, though the controls may be even more polarized.

There's that Rick and Morty pokemon style game, that I didn't see mentioned here. I've only put 20-30 minutes into it so far but it's a pretty ok game all on its own. You go around some environments and battle other Morty trainers while catching and training your own, but I haven't reached the part where I can catch them yet.

Maybe something like Pokemon is on there?
There actually is, PokemonGo!
There is on youtube a PokemonGo 40minute Treehouse video from E3 this year if you want more info about the game.
I sure am buying a new phone soon :D
For a pokemon clone I suggest EvoCreo.
However a warning: I never played a Pokemon game before, so I don't about its quality in comparison.
My recommendation for a Pokemon (the RPG not the Go version) clone is Summoners War.

You get to utilize different types of summons/monsters, both beastly and humanoid, that have strengths, weaknesses, abilities, and several different ways to customize and alter their stats.

It's a traditional turn-based combat, with battles involving several monsters at a time, several challenges and dungeons to clear, and the ability to have over 100 different monsters.

I only have it on Steam, but Siralim is on Android. It's a turn-based, party-based dungeon crawler where you capture additional party members, Pokemon style. The dungeons are randomly generated and you can save anywhere. It's fairly fun.

The Android version appears to be free to play until level 15 at which point you have to pay once to continue gaining experience. So basically, there's a demo!

I'll throw in Dungelot. Its a sort of simple clicker RPG where you explore various floors of a dungeon, levelling up and getting better gear. I guess its a roguelike for sure with it's random dungeons. It is perfectly desigined for playing in short 5-10 minute bursts when you get a chance. I'd definitely recommend checking it out.

As for a card game, Adventure Time: Card Wars is pretty fun. I am not into card games myself, but as a fan of the show its a decent game to drop in and play for half an hour or so every now and then. The first one is a solo only affair, but a new one has come out with PVP. Only problem is it does have a freemium economy, not too bad in the first game as it's a paid app but the PVP one is free so I imagine it's a lot worse there.

If you did have more time on your hands and didn't mind controllers then Android is a fantastic place for emulation. I have a Nvidia Shield K1 and amazingly many of the emulators I run seem to play much better on my tablet than my PC.

Even without a controller, a lot of the simpler Gameboy, GBA and DS games are very easy to play with a touchscreen (Especially Gameboy with it's minimal buttons). And with savestates you can play in very short bursts. This way, you can actually play pokemon on your phone, instead of some knock off imitation with a freemium economy on your phone!
