My worst experience had to be with higurashi no naku koro ni It had an amazing story that I simply love but the dub made my ears bleed so much I couldn't make it through a single episode
Aaaagh I must conceed to this, normally I do prefer dubs to subs actually but that one was pretty ridiculous. It really wasn't that they didn't try I think it was simply that they tried too hard to make the characters sound like the ones in the original. Because the high pitched voice of Rena, I think it was, worked well with the Japanese voice actor, but in english it just made her sound like Minnie Mouse.

There's no such thing as a good dub, so...none of them! It has to be subs all the way (because my Japanese isn't quite fast enough for nothing at all). It is true that there is still some rather doubtful translation out there, even in the subs, but at least you don't get expressionless, helium fueled English boring inexorably into your ear canal. =P

EDIT: ok, to qualify that absolute up there, I suppose there are some good English dubs around, but I haven't heard one yet. There are some truly excellent German dubs of English originals though, on a random side note.

Abridged. It's in Youtube and he guys responsible for that are preparing for season 2.

Come to think of it, the scouter tops at four digits. Would have made more sense if Goku's power level was 10000 (over 9000, but still) or something. Good thing it was scrapped later on, as it had the odd tendency to blow up in your face when you're looking at someone with the power to destroy a planet.

Honestly, it's easier to list anime that weren't hurt by dubbing. Not killed, necessarily; there's a difference between bad dubbing and mediocre dubbing.
From what dubs i've seen, i can only list the Studio Ghibli films as examples of good dubbing, everything else i've seen has been universally awful.

I think the voice actors accents plays a big part to it. I've generally noticed that a fair few Americans like dubs, but it's rare to find people that like them from other countries.

Taking a Japanese show and adding an American accent to me just adds a second layer of weirdness to the mix, it's as noticeable to me as it would be to most Americans if you got people with heavy French accents to dub things :D

Personally i'm just used to the subs now, have got used to listening to the voices and reading the text, while my brain somehow just mixes the two together without me realising i'm doing it.

One Piece. The English dub killed that series, letting Naruto become extremely popular. Its the complete opposite in Japan, where One Piece is far more popular than Naruto.

Yes... I dislike Naruto.

I tried watching the english dub way back when. I couldn't get passed the first few lines, f*cking awfull.

The english dub of Princess Mononoke was also worthy of eardrum penetration.

Naruto. I'm going to try and not make a list here, it would be huge.

Dragonball Z has mediocre dubbing. A lot of the characters were still okay to listen to, and overdramatics aside (though really, I'm pretty sure the guy doing Vegeta was just trying to match the lip movement), the DBZ dub didn't harm the show too badly.
Well that depends. IMHO the Funimation dub was good, but the Ocean Dub was terrible, you could tell the seiyuu were actually good, but the voices didn't match the characters, it was almost like oscar winning actors starring in Teletubbies, it doesn't mesh together.

Wait... I can win this one.

Nothing could ever be worse than the Excel Saga, specifically Excel's voice. I remember that, even though we were watching it subbed, the menu screens on the DVD's were using the dub track, and I couldn't stand it, even for the duration of time it took to select "Play All".

Any anime grabbed by 4kids.
Well, to be honest, they destroy the scripts
I never got round to watching the original with subs, but now I'm seeing the pharoah in a whole new light. Damn that was funny with the comparisons.

But to be fair, the Anime wasn't all that great to begin with.
The dub wasn't horrible... It could have been a little better though.

Outlaw Star felt lacking in the voice dubbing but it was still an awesome show.
I loved the dub of Outlaw Star... then again, it is my favorite anime, so yeah... xD
