Aaaagh I must conceed to this, normally I do prefer dubs to subs actually but that one was pretty ridiculous. It really wasn't that they didn't try I think it was simply that they tried too hard to make the characters sound like the ones in the original. Because the high pitched voice of Rena, I think it was, worked well with the Japanese voice actor, but in english it just made her sound like Minnie Mouse.xainoforgv said:My worst experience had to be with higurashi no naku koro ni It had an amazing story that I simply love but the dub made my ears bleed so much I couldn't make it through a single episode

It's the tfs abridged series. Example of great voice quality sometimes I prefer it to the original dub.VeX1le said:umm abridged or something? is it a bad dub?Herb sewell said:snip
From what dubs i've seen, i can only list the Studio Ghibli films as examples of good dubbing, everything else i've seen has been universally awful.NeutralDrow said:Honestly, it's easier to list anime that weren't hurt by dubbing. Not killed, necessarily; there's a difference between bad dubbing and mediocre dubbing.
Well that depends. IMHO the Funimation dub was good, but the Ocean Dub was terrible, you could tell the seiyuu were actually good, but the voices didn't match the characters, it was almost like oscar winning actors starring in Teletubbies, it doesn't mesh together.NeutralDrow said:Dragonball Z has mediocre dubbing. A lot of the characters were still okay to listen to, and overdramatics aside (though really, I'm pretty sure the guy doing Vegeta was just trying to match the lip movement), the DBZ dub didn't harm the show too badly.
I never got round to watching the original with subs, but now I'm seeing the pharoah in a whole new light. Damn that was funny with the comparisons.Aura Guardian said:Any anime grabbed by 4kids.
Well, to be honest, they destroy the scripts
The dub wasn't horrible... It could have been a little better though.xxhazyshadowsxx said:Gantz! Oh god, Gantz!
But to be fair, the Anime wasn't all that great to begin with.
I loved the dub of Outlaw Star... then again, it is my favorite anime, so yeah... xDpantsoffdanceoff said:Outlaw Star felt lacking in the voice dubbing but it was still an awesome show.
