Are there any good books that you really recommend? Nothing philosophical, just a really good book or two.

Oryx and Crake by: Margaret Atwood.

Tis about a dystopic future, that is really all I want to say.

It is easily my favourite book. A very good read and quite scary how realistic it is, which does make it kind of scary.

Jurassic Park and The Lost World.

And Don't even think of saying "But I saw the Movie so why would I need to read the book?"

The Books of Fire and Ice are excellent. Best series I've ever read and am awaiting the final book.

Also, try the Assassins trilogy.

The Black Company series by Glen Cook. 10 books of pure, science fictiony goodness (think Lord of the Rings, but less Bombadill and more war)

Anything by R.A. Salvatore. Unless you [aren't/don't want your friends to know you're/don't want to be] a nerd, dork, geek, or all around loser. I keep my Salvatore books secret >_>

The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. One of the best books I've ever read. Or anything written by Jim Butcher

Haunted
by chuck Palahniuk

It's my standard recommendation for people of all ages. Assuming you can handle it, that is.
