Also...how have you never played TF2?
OK, I have, but just not a lot. Played a couple of games with bots to get the basics, then also several games online. It's a good game, don't get me wrong, but I'm just not much into shooters, unless it's with friends.

Oh, also....it's all free. Provided you have Half-Life 1, of course. If you don't, five bucks a pop will solve that issue.
That sounds sweet! Does it work with the older version of HL, though? I know a couple of them don't have HL on Steam but we do all have access to the old CD version with patch 1.1.1.0 - is that sufficient?

I forgot about Borderlands.

Yeah, it's pretty awesome in multi because of the necessity of teamwork.
Teamwork. Borderlands.

Sorry but those two just dont quite mesh.

Yes, You *CAN* work as an united team but its nowhere near necesary. You can wander around by yourself if you want, you WILL face strong enemies since they scale up by every player, but its entirely possible to kill them and do it all yourself.

I am just giving a warning. The most team oriented game that I know off is easily Left 4 dead series (And even then, if you are inhumanily good and know the game VERY well, you can solo a fair amount of stuff by yourself as well... but that wont happen until you have played the game´s levels 50 times or so, so good luck with that).

Theres no more games that I know off that are co op with +2 people that hasnt been mentioned already in this thread.

That's alright - it doesn't need to strictly require teamwork, we'd just be playing whatever we play together, so we'll be working as a team anyway. Or something like a team. Borderlands sounds fun, anyway. Sort of a hack&slash Diablo descendant but an FPS, from what I know of it.

If you are okey with that, then yes, you should have a great time with Borderlands- It is one of the best co op games out there, along with left 4 dead.

By the looks of it, if you are just plain wanting to have fun shooting down things with your friends, by all means Borderlands is really THE way to go then. Left 4 dead, while begin also a great game (I would rate it even slighlty higher than Borderlands even), it REALLY REALLY requeires teamwork, often a member of the team may screw up with something and result in your deaths and restarting of the level, and it may result in rage and all of that (particulary in Expert. Seriously dont try that thing in the very first try, me and both of my friends tried to do that and it took us 3 hours to do 2 levels. THREE HOURS FOR 2 LEVELS, AND A CAMPAING IS USUALLY 5 LEVELS!!!. Of course, by now we can do a whole campaing in expert in just around 1 hour, but thats just practice. Dont do it). Normal difficulty in Left 4 dead, thougt, anyone who has touched an FPS and has minimal sence of teamwork can do it. Its pretty hard to actually die in that mode. Lets not even talk about easy.

In theory, yes. That should be just fine.

In fact, isn't 1.1.1.0 that last updated version of Half-Life? I could be mistaken. I'll look it up.

Regardless, you 'technically' don't need the Steam version of Half-Life 1. The newer/newest builds of Sven Coop (4 onward) use the Steam build, and look for Steam when installing. However, the older versions of Sven (3 back) can use both the Steam version and the non-Steam version. So, if all else fails, just grab the legacy installers from the site.

[edit]
I just checked. The current Steam build is ver. 1.1.2.1. So you may need the older installers.

However, if you have the old CD keys for those discs, you should try adding them to your Steam library. In most cases, doing so will not only add Half-Life 1, but also Blue Shift, Opposing Force, Ricochet, Team Fortress Classic, and Deathmatch Classic.

That is, assuming they haven't been used already, of course.

The Far Cry3 co-op is fun. What drives me nuts is the map selection. I just don`t get why i can`t start hosting a match with the wanted map myself and i`m tired replaying the same first two maps. Aside from the overall fun it really destroys it if you`re going for trophies. It shouldn`t be a problem if you start a private match with up to four players.

edit: pc only shouldn`t be a problem at all.

Definitely need to agree with Payday and Dead Island. Me and my friends have put loads of time in Payday, and it really feels rewarding when you get the hang of the game. It starts off pretty damn difficult, but you progressively level up and get better stuff along with getting to know the maps and just overall becoming better at the game. It doesn't have a huge amount of levels to choose from, but it's pretty well randomized with the chances of crazier stuff happening on higher difficulty levels. Look up some gameplay if you need more explanation.

As for Dead Island, it's a terribly buggy and somewhat broken game with no story and pretty stereotypical characters, but holy shit did I ever have fun playing that in co-op with friends. It's the first game in which I, as part of a group of 4 people, got incredibly pumped over piling into a pickup truck and driving down to the gas station, fill the back of the truck with juice, and then floor it all the way back. It has many flaws, but that just means it has lots of hilarious things to poke fun at with friends.

Is Minecraft out? Could play that together, find a server online and play, or someone could host their own if it's just 4 people. Could make it PvP if you want, too. Download maps if you're experienced players, too.

Yeah, I was going to say - 1.1.1.0 is the last non-Steam update. the version number would have changed when moving over, but other than that, I don't know if there are many (or any) changes. Also, last time we tried playing HL, I intalled the CD version, because the Steam one wasn't working (I did check out of curiosity).

OK, offtopic but whatever - random info here. So when I last installed HL, it...didn't run after updating. Well, it ran but it crashed every time on launch with some weird error message. I was really confused. It wasn't until I checked what calls hl.exe did, that I found out that it was looking for Steam.dll. yeah, the CD version of Half-Life 1, with v1.1.1.0 which was way before Steam's time. Turns out that version 1.0.9.0 (or so) upwards was when Valve started making Steam and these versions had experimental Steam validation functionality. Turned off, actually, but for some reason what my game did was to try and find it - it wasn't in the installation directory, so it went through my PATH variable and check for Steam.dll in each of the entries there, and since Steam itself is also on PATH, it found the file there, tried validating, and crashed, since the validation failed. So, weirdly, the solution was to make a blank file called Steam.dll in Half-Life's installation directory. It worked then :? It also works if it doesn't find any Steam.dll (so, if you don't have Steam, for example, you're fine).

Hey, didn't know that. Thanks!

No, Minecraft is not out at all. We'll probably end up hosing our own server, too.

Dota 2 is pretty good for anything up to 5 players, loads of people have spare keys these days & it's quite an active community. I didn't see it mentioned yet. Minecraft is also a very good shout.

Jamestown. Lots and lots of Jamestown. Shank 1 has good co-op, too, but it's for only two people.
