Oh snap, for real? Thanks for the heads up. Hooray for freedom of speech, huh?
You don't have freedom of speech. It's a common misconception. ou're on the Escapist and you go by the Escapist's rules. The same rules you agreed to follow in order to be here. Practice freedom of speech when you actually have that.

Well I don't agree with it, but I will accept it. From now on, I'll walk the line.

Tried searching and could not find anything so here goes, basically I'm broke (thanks college) and have played all my current games to death. I'm looking for some nice free game to help get me though to the next couple paychecks :( Any help from you all would be great.

Capcha: Im sorry dave

O MY GOD no one told me HAL had taken over yet *flees to nearest safe house*....
Don't apologize, it's quite alright.

As for free games, let's see...

Beneath a Steel Sky (an excellent point and click adventure game) has been available for some time here...

ADOM (a fiendishly difficult Rogue-like) is available <a href=http://www.adom.de/adom/download.php3>here...

And if you're a fan of old school gaming then you really need to pay attention to this (slightly outdated now, thanks GOG...) site here...

That's all I got. Enjoy.

Tribes: Ascend.
Very much seconded.

OP, if you're in the mood for a fast-paced team-based online multiplayer shooter with a sci-fi setting, crazy weapons and friggin' jetpacks, Tribes: Ascend is the game for you.

I saw some some recommendations for Wesnoth, which I completely second. Very fun, customizable strategy game with lows sys reqs.

If you have Steam you should try Alien Swarm. It's an isometric shooter that supports 4p co-op and different class loadouts. It's a little short but still fun to play once, twice, three times.

Also if you have Steam....Moonbase Alpha is the stupidest, funniest f2p game ever. It's pretty much just hours of text-to-speech idiocy with your friends.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
Aion has gone free to play now, the white chamber is awesome and scary, gog.com has a number of free games you get for signing up, champions online is a pretty good free to play game.

There has never been a better time to get good free games.

Dwarf fortress is good too.

Battlefield heroes is good but you have to spend at least 5 bucks to get a good weapon.

Chzos Mythos series is pretty good. It's a free, four game series of point and click-esque adventure and made by Yahtzee.

Otherwise theres all the Steam FTPs, Aion, D&D Online and other FTP mmos. Additionally, theres League of Legends.

Just remembered Cave Story and Spelunky. Though prepare to die alot when you first play Spelunky.

Most RPG Maker games are a bit shit, but there are some really good games among them (many of which are free). For instance:
Last Scenario -- It sets up the most cliche plot possible, then starts breaking down the cliches one-by-one, into something incredible. It's also hard, though more "change your skill card loadout and try again" hard than "grind for three hours" hard.
Alter A.I.L.A. -- Excellent jRPG with multiple branching plot paths and three different endings (plus a fourth once you've gotten them all).
Yume Nikki -- Saying anything about this one would be a spoiler. Though it's more of an open world exploration game than an RPG.

Iji's awesome, same with Alabaster, if you like the more text-heavy ones. Fallen London, ooh, if you've been around the escapist and missed 5 days a stranger, you're missing out. :p

http://indiegames.com/best_of/ Might want to check this out. And Toribash, the Anaksha series... Hmm... I think that's it for the moment, though http://www.db.tigsource.com has some good suggestions, even if the downloading's failed... Still looking around, then googling, should solve that. Oh, and Octodad! :D
