When I heard about Painkiller: Resurrection I thought: wow! this is so abominable I can't believe the original developers couldn't sue them over it! so what about you, how was your beloved franchise murdered?

Perhaps not the absolute worst sequel, but it sure as hell wasn't even close to the original. I'm talking about KOTOR 2, of course.

I wanna say Bioshock 2, but if anything, Bioshock 2 was a good game, just no where near as good as Bioshock 1 and it's only looked down upon because it let a lot of folks down.

That said, I wanna go with Modern Warfare 2. I enjoyed the original Modern Warfare campaign, I thought it was fun, enjoyable, challenging Veteran, good story and ideas. Modern Warfare 2 however just threw all that way and said "LET'S PUT IN MORE GUNS AND MAKE THEM GO BANG BANG!". It's story was really lackluster and the veteran is just a piss poor excuse for a difficulty.

Final Fantasy X's Sequel, Final Fantasy X-2.
I swear a sqare enix rep injected a helping of heroin, read a disturbing fanfiction, and somehow pitched it as a sequel

"Majesty: A Fantasy Kingdom Sim" was awesome. Its sequel fills me with the deepest hatred and rage.

Modern Warfare 2.

The campaign was extremely short. The multiplayer was broken. Veteran mode was total bullshit.

Also Bioshock 2. The game isn't actually that bad, but it was a real disappointment and I can't bring myself to replay it.

well the biggest gap in quality between a game and it's sequel would be Ratchet and Clank Up Your Arsenal
if Ratchet and Clank Going Commando was a 10
Ratchet and Clank UYA was a 4

but the worst game I've ever played that happened to be a sequel was Grand Theft Auto 4
If the GTA series is a 5 with Vice city at a 7
GTA 4 is charitably sitting on a 2

Modern Warfare 2, definitely... COD4 was essentially the best multiplayer shooter I've ever played and the story mode was both realistic and awesome... MW2 has a WAY OVER THE TOP storyline what with the friggin White House being overrun and having to jet-ski your way to safety while shooting at enemies and many of the new perks and Multiplayer features left the Multiplayer dangerously unbalanced and often frustrating to play (One Man Army Noob Tubes made me loose my faith in Infinity Ward pretty much forever and every time I get quick scoped God drowns a puppy)... I just hope Black Ops is decent, because if it isn't we'll have three terrible Call of Duty games in a row...

Heh, I didn't think I'd ever see anyone else who played that game. Screw quadratic, their wizards grew with fourth hyperoperators.

OT: The worst sequel I've ever played would have to be Zelda II. Not necessarily a bad game, I just really didn't like it. It's one of the few games I ever finished due to my nagging completionist urges.

Deus Ex: Invisible War was horrible as hell, the 3rd one promises to be at least as good as the 1st one though. And also don't know about the Ressurection but Painkiller:Overdose was pretty damn bad. Oo I got one more, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas was above avarage shooter and the 2nd one was just the same so it wasn't actually bad but just pointless.

In before Halo 2 (which will appear in this thread, despite being great and fun). And Mass Effect 2 (which will also appear, due to people being pissed it's not exactly the same as the first one). And Deus Ex: Invis - oh, wait, too late...

To be fair, Vegas 2 was more of an expansion on the gameplay of Vegas 1, but it was a whole lot more polished than 1. Invisible War probably would have been good if it dropped 'Deus Ex' from the title, wasn't bad, but nowhere near the brilliance of the first one.

For me I would have to say Samurai Shodown Sen for Xbox 360. It's fun but horribly clunky with poor controls, graphics and animations whereas Samurai Shodown 6 was incredibly polished with smooth gameplay. controls and really nice 2d graphics.

If COD4 to MW2 counts, so it's not all about the #2, then C&C4 wins this contest easily.
Poor execution of a terrible design choice: grinding RTS/RTT missions.

Supreme Commander. A fantastic game, consolised and ruined in the 2nd.

I'm hesistant to say it, but Dawn of War 2 was for me, not nearly as good as the original.

It still had merit I suppose, but it utterly bored me, where the first was fantastic fun.

Manhunt... The sequel was terrible...

If they were going to censor it like the way they did, it would have been better off simply not being made... Also, unlike the original, the actual violence was not as justifiable...

Oh, and also State of Emergency... The first one was great, the second one was so embarrasingly awful...

I loved Genji: Dawn of the Samurai...... I was excited for Genji: Days of the Blade (the sequel) but GAH not 30 minutes into it and i was fairly disappointed. I remember at one point trying over and over to get past a certain point only to have a giant crab 1shot me.

Believe it or not, I hear some people think that the game was actually better than the first.

I've said it many a time: Wild Arms 4,because Likable Characters, a cool setting and creative puzzles are for losers. God I hate this game.
