Final Fantasy X, or any of them for that matter. I played it twice and acted the exact same way both times: no Blitzball games EVER, didn't care if Khimari trained any, racked up Aeon overdrives before every tough boss fight, and only used Yuna, Auron and Lulu for the final boss. Oh, and Tidus for the initial Hastega.

I can't think of a single one. I tend to go back for a second taste of every game that I enjoy.

Sure, sometimes the second playthrough isn't as good as the first. I know that those bloody plaster splicers in Bioshock will never freak me out like they did the first time. I know that the ending of Half Life 2 Ep2 won't affect me as much as it did the first time. But if the game is truly excellent then it just doesn't matter.

...

By the way, congrats on the original thread subject. I haven't seen this one before.

Bioshock 2, Batman Arkam Asylum, aside from achievements.

Mass Effect 2 would be one, if my actions didn't impact Mass Effect 3.

I'm going to throw a really surprising one out: Mass Effect 2.

I don't know why, I played Mass Effect 1 a few times over, but I just can't bring myself to play Mass Effect 2 over again. I get half way through and then just get bored and move on to another game. Despite the large amount of content, it's very very linear, and you can go through most of the conversation options in your first go. I went Paragon the first time, so the only thing there is for me in a second playthrough are some Renegade actions/lines of dialogue.

There really is surprisingly low replay value in that game, at least for me. But it was a fantastic 40 hour first play through, no doubt.
For me I can't replay it because I just don't want to know "what could have been" with my decisions - I've made them and now I want to live with them through to the end of the 3rd.

If not I find myself making the perfect playthrough, which kind of negates any point in choice.

Fallout 3. I'll sometimes wax nostalgic and pop it in to start a new character, but then I get to the quests that demand I go into the subways; as a result, I pop in a different game and go back to shooting strangers online.

damn, ninja'd lol
ninja'd my ninja'd...
Yeah Bioshock was a fantastic game and had a awesome story. BUT when you know the story and who all the mystery people are and the plot twists are ruined... then it was a horrible game. I guess it was because the game was very linear, and the way you played it the first go through was the way you wanted to play it(crossbow is ridiculous.) made it bad.
But to me Bioshock 2 had even less replay value.
Very true, the story within Bioshock was probably one of the best stories I had seen in a long time, but once it's over there really is nothing left to make you want to play it.

But FF X at least has replay value. You can play it again with a completely different strategy, do different side-quests and play different minigames etc. It was your choice to play it the same way again, so don't blame the game for that.

FF XIII, on the other hand, gives no reason whatsoever to play through it again. I loved the game and especially the story it told, but it was so painstakingly linear and streamlined that you simply cannot do anything differently the second time around. There's the post-game content to keep the most devoted fans of the battlesystem happy, but since it offers no new story or anything besides grinding, really, I couldn't be bothered with it.

So yeah, FF XIII falls under this category more so than any other FF-game I've played.

I've felt this way with the Final Fantasy games that I have played, but that's about it. I am generally willing to play through something at least twice.

Uncharted 1 and 2, they were both fantastic games but I just can't see myself playing them again.

Maybe because they're more reliant on big events that are supposed to surprise you vs a game like Prince of Persia where you're just platform jumping.
I donno. 1 deffinitly has it with the "Spawn weapons at any difficulty level" thing, and the platforming's still tons of fun, and that's all I needed.

For me, it's FFXII, for the massive time sink it is when you get to wander around and do the hunts and all that jazz.
And No More Heroes, just for what a pain it is to navigate Santa Destroy and do the subjobs over and over and over again.
I'm not saying the game was bad, it's just...hm. It's more like a movie, that first time you play it, there's a big wow factor to it, running from a chopper or whatever and it has an effect that's just not there after another playthrough. At least for me that is.

Oblivion and Fallout 3. As good as they are I cannot bring myself to play them again. They just absorb so much time that I can't justify losing again, and the crashing every 30mins when trying to explore the world/wasteland is just demoralizing. I must have spent the same amount of time reloading the game as my playtime, damn Bethesda!
you just named the games with most replay value ever!

people have over 500 hours on that game on 20 different charter files. probably even more.
So? I said they have no replay value for me. I'm always tempted to play them again, but then I remember the frustration of the game crashing all the time and having to quicksave every other minute for fear of losing my progress. To which I think "sod it"!
true but that wasn't what the thread was about. it was about potential replay value.

I say any good story-driven game have as much replay value as any good movie, and movies are just big old cut-scenes... xD

I tried replaying it on several occasions and couldn't get through the first part.
Same thing with Killzone 2, I just couldn't bring myself to replay it.
