Good gaming laptops?

Hello, I'm hopefully going to university this September, and i need to invest in a computer, for work and hobby reasons. The obvious choice of a tower isn't really an option, as I'm going to need it to be portable for study and work purposes.

I did a little bit of research, And the best i can find seem to be alien ware. But my lord, are they expensive..!


So, anybody got any recommendations? My budgets going to be roughly £700ish, but i can eat out of the bins for a while if needs must.

It's Mutually exclusive, laptop are compromises that mean they won't ever be that good as a games machine and massively expensive.

Alienware are very very over priced. Asus and MSI also do gaming laptops, but £700 is going to be a tight squeeze to get a worth while gaming rig in a lap top.

Owned a laptop I've used for gaming. I'd agree that they aren't exactly gaming machines, but I'm OK with mine. I play old-ish games anyway, so it works for me. If you're not too demanding, then they can work, but if you do expect to play new games a lot...maybe not.

I was playing new games and at the time wasn't limited on price. Hot, noisy and easily broken because of the heat dissipation being so problematic.

But maybe I had a bad experience since I was trying to replace my desktop.

cant go wrong with the asus gaming republic builds or the MSI steel series laptop lines.

I'm not looking to play top of the range things on this, Just play my usual's

(Star Trek Online, Minecraft, Fallout ect)

It's not my absolute maximum, i will happily go over it if it means getting a reliable machine. I'm going to be horribly in debt by the end of my course anyway, May aswell enjoy myself, Advantage of not drinking means i can blow all my money on gadgets

I would go with an Asus RoG. It will be able to play most games but just keep in mind no gaming laptop can beat a desktop.
