Good movies you admit are good but dislike anyway

Been a while since I made this one, thought I'd give it another shot.

Okay, so everyone knows there are good movies and there are bad movies. However, our opinions of movie quality sometimes don't mesh up with our actual opinions of a movie. I mean, we all know some bad movies that we love anyway. Hell, the entire Evil Dead series is nothing if not at the top of the list in this category. Well, if we know that there are bad movies that we love anyway, then the logical opposite extreme should also exist, right? Name some good movies that you just don't enjoy at all, even though you know they're good.

Mine is "No Country for Old Men" I watched it, saw how fantastic the pacing and scenery were... and yet at the end I just could not bring myself to enjoy it at all. The entire movie was a fantastic fruit pie, incredibly well made and presumably delicious... to someone who likes fruit pies, which I guess I don't.

EDIT: Just to be clear, these aren't just popular movies you don't like. These should be movies you think are good, too, but you just don't find enjoyable.

The Godfather, it's just not my cup. No, this isn't a Family Guy reference, I just don't like the movie that much. Amazing cinematography and such, but I find it dull.

Also, There Will Be Blood, great character work, but I want more than just character work. I want interesting bits (well, interesting to me) to happen.

No Country for Old Men was one of mine too. Also, search for the film "Another Year". The trailer made it look like a comedy, but when I went to see it it was a snapshot into the life of a manic-depressive...

I guess what you can take from that is there are good films that I don't enjoy because I expect them to be something else. If you're not in the mood for it, you're not going to enjoy it. Best to wait til you are in the mood for something like that then try watching it agian, could change your point of view. =)

The Star Wars Original Trilogy. Only V and VI.

Look, I finally watched them a few months back.

I have to say that I think IV is actually a bad movie.

But V and VI are good movies that I just happen to dislike.

Mine is Avatar.

People love it, and it usrely has merit, but I've seen that story way too many times and with less heavy handedness.

Fight club and Pulp Fiction, I know they're clever and well done but they don't mean anything to me.

Actually, pretty much any Tarantino film could be in this category. Clever guy but I couldn't give a flying shazbot about his films.

(Captcha = you ramento... why, yes I do!)

O_O Whoa. I might have gotten behind you if you'd just bashed the Ewoks, but you didn't like Empire? Wow, I don't know if we can be completely unacquainted friends anymore. >_<

American Psycho: I don't know. Maybe I need to read the book or something.

A History of Violence: Okay, I hesitate to put this one here, because personally I think it's a hack job. It's unwieldy, some of the performances are laugh-out-loud bad, and the director's metaphors and imagery are about as subtle as a golf club to the face. But quite a few people for whom I have a great deal of respect absolutely gush over this movie.

Any feature-length anime from before 2005. Bad dubs or translations, cheap-looking animation, grainy reproduction quality. I just can't get into it. I'm sure Akira is awesome, but every time I try to watch it I feel like someone's raping my eyeballs.

Man, Avatar isn't a good film... Just because people love it doesn't mean it's good. =S

I would say Inception.

I'm sorry, I didnt care for it, and it wasnt the mindblowing experience everyone made it out to be.

Plus I didnt care for the Director or lead actor, cause I dont feel either is as great as everyone makes them out to be.

Enter the Void was a very good film, technically and structurally speaking nearing perfection. Still not anywhere near any of my fave films though.

Black Swan. Amazing film, but it just made me kind of uncomfortable throughout, especially since I'd been through the whole 'destructive drive to perfection' thing myself recently, though nowhere near as extreme.

Actually, did anyone really like that film? Appreciate it, sure, but it's not exactly enjoyable fare...

Mine would have to be Key Largo, an old Film Noir flick from the 40's. It should have what I want. It has the king of cool (Humphrey freakin' Bogart), the queen of sexy Hollywood voices (Lauren Bacall), an interesting setting, tension, suspense and wonderful cinematography. But I didn't enjoy it as much as I should have.

I would have to go with almost any film starring Matt Deamom.
Ever sinse I saw Team America all I hear when Matt talks is a drewling idiot shouting:

"Maaaaaaaaaaaaatt Deeeeeeaaaaaaaaamooooooooon"

I just can't help myself..
So I guess this is not so much hate of a film but more of an actor. but still, it fits the suptitle of this topic.

Oh, and Roman Polanski's "Fearless Vampire Hunters." Competent acting, beautiful scenery, and some of the satirical in-jokes of the vampire horror movie (of the time) were fairly clever. But I felt it was one of the most boring satirical comedies I had ever seen in my life. m
