Good ol' Mother Nature

So, yesterday an earthquake decided to give me a visit yesterday evening. Nothing serious, but big enough to make one lose their balance and possibly fall over. The ground roared, and the house moved from side to side. Later I found out it was a 6.0, but we weren't close to the epicenter thankfully.

Anyways, this brings me to my question. What kind of natural disasters or weather phenomena are common where you live?

Just really cold winters. Lots of snow. Yay for Canada!

I actually like the really cold winters, but I know almost everyone else doesn't.

Rain. And then more rain. And then sunshine! And then more rain.
Good ol' Britain...

I think Melbourne was vaguely flooded for a day. And sometimes it gets a little windy. But otherwise, the weather's not too dramatic. It has frequent mood swings, but they're relatively mild.

Where I live, nothing worth speaking of. Some rain, some snow, some sunshine, but no extremes.

Luckily almost none. Sometimes we have cold winters (cold as in like -30C cold or so. So I bet Canada has colder winters.)
The heatwaves we have are nothing compared to the ones in southern-Europe. We start to scream that the world's gonna burn down when the thermometer goes over +30C.
There never has been any earthquakes, tornadoes, tsunamis, floods (well not BIG ones, at least), volcano eruptions or other such things.
Yes, i live in a boring place. A place where you are less likely to die of anything nature-related, but still, boring.

Where do you live man? It's been nothing but warm weather in north western Ontario. Very, very strange for October.

Heh. Colorado has been having unseasonably warm weather.

It's been in the mid to low 70's straight up through October.

We usually have a blizzard by now.

Noreasters. Bloody New England.

I don't mind the snow. It's the ice and slush that bothers me.

We also get tornadoes and the occasional hurricane. Though I think we've had more earthquakes than hurricanes in my life. All minor, mind.

Oh, right. I almost forgot to mention that there's like 2-3 volcanoes here. Not sure if they're active or dormant. Also, we get hurricanes, and it rains for 6 months straight.

Back home in Texas, it's blistering heat waves, occasional floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, relatively cold winters. You know, the usual.

I'm in Calgary.

It's not snowing yet, but it also isn't Winter. I'd guess by late October it drops to below zero temperatures though.

Motherfucking rain and lots of it. Welcome to Pittsburgh. Your forecast today doesn't really matter, because in defiance to the practice of meteorology, it will rain. Suckers! Also, nasty winters. (Seriously, this is a place where we LAUGH at the idea of a drought. Like "Oh no! It stopped raining a bit! Whatever will we do with only our THREE FUCKING RIVERS?!".)

So, yeah. It's possible to get all the water-related hazards, minus tsunamis and such for being too far inland. And surprisingly, despite all the hiles and - you know - MOUNTAINOUS AREA, there have been some weak tornado storms.

I live in New Jersey, so nothing happens here, thankfully. The worst we get are the remnants of hurricanes and I live on a hill so I get nothing.

We don't have extreme weather, no earth quakes and no volcanoes.

... We also have no animals nor plants dangerous to people.

Theyre more tropical storms than hurricanes. I hate the slush too its like the second worst thing to have the wade through. I like the weather for the most part. Especially when it rains really hard.

Basically this, since I live near Pittsburgh. Lol.
