I replay old games sometimes. I play new games when I get them. I play Perfect sessions with my friends on the N64. I'm an all-around gamer.

More and more I have the feeling that I'm less and less considered a normal gamer. I was brought up a PC gamer (I still play console games, as long as I can't get it on PC). I played games like the Quake series, UT series, Medal of Honor Allied Assault, Half-Life, Diablo, Starcraft, Warcraft, and the lot. I still love to play them to this day. Nowadays every person I know is playing Call of Duty or Halo and that's all they want to play. They have no appreciation for older games that are just as much (if not more) fun. They just don't have as advanced graphics.

I don't blame game companies for developing different games and different styles. It gives it a refreshing change. But as time goes on people forget about old games and games style (for instance, CoD4 does not play like quake 3) and sometimes people don't even know about the game because of their age.

What games do you think are classics that no one really "cares" about anymore?

For me, I've always enjoyed UT04 and Quake 2. It's a shame I can't find many people that still play these.
If you liked Quake 2 then you will love Quake Live [http://www.quakelive.com] which is not only free but also has a very active community. And achievements, if you're into that kind of thing.

Despite the main character being a mute I adored Suikoden 2 on the psone. The progression of story, the characterisation, the combat.. perfect, at least for me.

That or LoZ: Ocarina of time, which I'm very surprised hasn't been mentioned yet. To add to its awesomeness that game actually has ALOT of sentimental value for me as it brought a very good friend into my life who I still remain close friends with today. Yay for games.
