So I don't use my laptop for gaming or anything because it would probably fry but, well here are the specs:
CPU: Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU B815 @ 1.60GHz
CPU Speed: 1.6 GHz
OS: Windows 7
RAM: 4.0 GB
Video Card: Inte(R) HD graphics

Not great obviously but there's eff all coming out on PS3 I'm interested in right now so any suggestions on decent games that could run on it would be appreciated.

P.S.This thread could probably help others while we're at it.

Don't have to worry about Hardware, just play older games.

A short list:

Strategy: Age of Empires II or Civilization III
Shooter: Serious Sam or Half Life
RPG: Diablo or Dungeon Seige

Many other games, this is just a brief bit of thought.

EDIT:

First, you should go to gog.com for these kinds of games.

Other titles: Baldur's Gate 2, Neverwinter Nights, Ground Control, Rome: Total War, Stronghold, the Cossacks games, Far Cry, Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear, Medal of Honour: Allied Assault, COD 1.
Thanks, any games within the past, say, 5 years that could work?

Left 4 Dead will work, serious Sam 3, Civ 5, The Walking Dead, Fallout New Vegas, Torchlight 2, Skyrim, Team Fortress 2, terraria, Doom 3. all these games should run at least smoothly. Diablo 3 should work, and Starcraft 2. none of them require too much power from a rig, but most of them run well on a shitty iMac so you should be fine.

Starcraft 2 would be the sort of game that I would buy if I had a computer that could run it, Left 4 dead would be good, I hear it doesn't need much to run it, are you sure Skyrim would work though? I mean I'd love to try out the mods and such but I hear it requires a lot of processing power.

Out of all of these I'm only sure Terraria would work.

Download TF2 to get an idea how L4D would play, same engine and what not. Torchlight 2 should as it has a netbook mode(the first one did anyway).

This isn't a newer laptop he's trying to run these on, note the Celeron 1.60GHz.

The Binding of Isaac is an excellent laptop game, as is Dungeons of Dreadmor. Also, a vast majority of the games released in the humble indie bundles (with a few exceptions, like Amnesia) should be able to run well on your computer, and are good games.

here are some off the top of my head

Older games:

-Baldurs gate 1&2
-Fallout 1&2
-XCOM: UFO Defense
-Stronghold

All timeless classics that you shouldn't miss out on :)

Newer games that would work well:

-FTL: Faster than light
-Mount and blade warband (M&B games have never been very pretty but damn they are good)
-Terraria
-Dawn of war (Dark crusade + Winter assault)

Solitaire
Chess
Minesweeper

all good games that can run on that Laptop :3
at those specs i'd be surprised if you can play a flash game full speed xD

lmao @ 42:
dude most of those require pretty strong builds. Serious Sam 3? that game eats up my CPU/GPU like crazy and i have a powerful system. I even play it on Medium settings. There's no way a laptop could play that game. I haven't tested lowest settings on lowest resolution but that would be horrible, even if it could maintain a decent FPS you wouldnt want to play it like that.

Good games that I think will run on those specs:
Bastion
Machinarium
Botanicula
Braid
Costume Quest and Stacking might just about work.
Half-Life
Half-Life 2 on lowish settings
Monkey Island 1 and 2 special editions
Portal, again on lowish settings
Recettear
World of Goo

Source engine sucks, it crashes my computer from time to time. i don't recommend it to someone on a laptop. i really dont know whats wrong with the source engine or why it can crash my computer from overheating. no other game does that for me. only way for me to play HL2 mods for longer than 10 minutes is if i lower the resolution and the graphical settings. even than it still gets pretty hot. (maybe its just the mods though, cuz HL2 itself isnt that bad)

Integrated video cards have serious issues. I've had to contend with mine since I have Optimus (it's complicated), and even older games don't usually work. So be wary of that and just make sure you don't fall into that trap.

Of course, a trip through gog.com will probably net you a few games that work well.

Regardless of your hardware's power, the trouble with laptops is usually the track-pad.
Things like Starcraft and other RTSs are usually out of the question due to the reaction time that track-pad can't provide.
You'll want to play things like TBSs, like Age of Empires III, or MMOs (Lord of the Rings Online is good for even low powered PCs and doesn't require fast-acting on the track-pad).
Of course platformers like Vlambeer's Super Crate Box are fair game as well.

Post Script:

I looked over your specs again, and I have had a good experience playing the first two Mass Effect Games on laptops, as they use cover-based shooting for their combat sections; same goes for L.A. Noir, if you're into that.

Plus, emulators run well on those specs, so N64 games and PS2 games are good, spec wise. Those are some times hard to get the control scheme right for, but I've been able to get good button inputs for games like Paper Mario and Persona 4.

Well the first two Fallout games work great on my laptop.

If you're getting Fallout 2 however, I suggest downloading the Restoration patch for it. Not only does it add additional content, but I found it runs MUCH better than the regular version does. At least from my experience.

Also, Plants vs. Zombies is also quite a bit of fun.

I used to have a Desktop with integrated graphics and 1 gig of ram. I know what games you can play :p

(note, some of these games require Shader Model 3.0. I think the HD has it, but not sure.)

Risen 1

Rainbow Six Vegas 2

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

League of Legends

Freelancer

Hawx

Hellgate London (Be sure to find the unofficial mod for it, makes the game 100x better)

Diablo 2 (Pretty much anything with a screen can run D2)

Any of the YS games (Oath in Felghana, Origins etc..)

Magicka (Surprisingly good game, humor is a bit random but still good)

Jedi Knight 3: Jedi Academy (Still a game that gets tons of use on my updated pc)

Need for Speed Most Wanted (2005) You know, the GOOD one

That is about all i can think of at the moment.

If it's an indie game, you can run it. If the download is less than 1gb, you can run it. If your house has newer wheels than your truck, you might just be a redneck.

Minecraft! It doesn't have very high requirements and you can spend a lot of time in it. Amnesia is another game that isn't very demanding on you PC. It't quite scary too.

i like this list, but i would be cautious about Rome: Total War. larger battles can get very laggy very fast. This can be counteracted by making use of the unit scale slider in the options menu on the title screen though. dont make it tiny however, because that makes the game rather imbalanced. cavalry charges will wipe out entire units, archers and slingers and pealtasts can too with but a few volleys, phalanxes become nearly useless without several clumped together, and city fights get difficult. also, the romans become even more overpowered because their heavy infantry is difficult to kill with anything other than huge numbers or repeated charges with cavalry, or a solid phalanx. this IS A problem because to win the game, no matter what faction you are, you have to fight romans at some point.

the inverse is true if you crank it up to huge, but cavalry can still do serious damage, and archers just take longer to wreck shit.

you might be able to run starcraft 2, just turn the graphics all the way down. It still looks decent even with that, and it reduces system demand by such a huge margin it isnt even funny.

really? Minecraft? that game eats up my ram like nobody's business! and im even running on performance graphics over looks graphics (yes, there really are graphics settings on minecraft).

with 4gb of ram, i think its a maybe. dont count on it with that processor though.
