I've become stricken with sorrow as I have noticed the shortage of single player PC games within the last 3 years. I knew there wasn't as much as previous years, but I did not know it was this bad until I went looking for them.

I'm making this thread to see if there's a good PC game out there that I do not have. So you can tell me some suggestions. I'm really desperate.
I'm looking for an engaging single-player experience with at least some sort of storyline.

Examples:
Crysis - Perfect example of ACTION
Bioshock - Perfect example of ATMOSPHERE
Fallout 3 - Oh, the IMMERSION.
Oblivion - IMMERSION, and endless hours of gameplay.

Some suggestions I have gotten already include:
Dragon Age: Origins
Arkham Asylum(I'm already getting this one)
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2(seems too mainstream for me but it might prove me wrong, not sure)

Tell me your opinions on the above suggestions if you have the games. I just want that one title that I buy myself for Christmas, and play while everyone else is drunk on eggnog, or when I am... whatever happens, happens.

I searched the forums and couldn't find another thread like this, so if someone searches harder and finds one, I'm sorry.

Dragon Age. Tactical roleplaying combat, immersive game world and a storyline that deserves mention even if it is terriblt cliché. Did I tell you that many find it really hard?

Universe at War and Empire at War are both pretty good, if you're into RTSes. They both have more robust campaigns than games in the genre usually do.
That being said, I'm not really a PC gamer, so feel free to disregard my advice.

Hate to be the tard that points out the obvious, but all those are on the xbox/ps3 as well, except Crisis, but that'll pobably crop up some way or another. I'd go for TF2 (or the whole Orange Box, but I'm going with TF2 as it excels on the PC), also Trine kicked ass. Psychonauts was 2006 and is still one of my favourite ever games

Dragon Age is brilliant for a single player experience. if you like Oblivion and Fallout you will love this.

I would also recommend Mass Effect another very well done immersive game.

Yeah, the PC version was best.

It doesn't matter if the games are ported to the PC from consoles, or vice versa. Just as long as there is a PC version. I don't HAVE consoles and do not plan on buying them.

Oh and I have all of valve's games *is a steam whore* and L4D2 is awesome( sidenote ) but those are all mainly multiplayer with single player as an added thing. I'm looking for more traditional single player campaign with the added extra of multiplayer(if any).

"Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter".
Might not have a good storyline, but god damn that's the best FPS I've ever played.

The one game you are really missing out on is the Witcher. It might be a little difficult to get running but it is an oh so beautiful experience. I liked the combat system a lot although some people didn't, it may have been a little easy but was at least smooth and intuitive. The plot is top notch and level design is generally quite good as well.

wow, cant believe nobodys mentioned stalker: shadow of chernobyl yet. stalkers atmoshpere beats every game out there in the last few years easy. got a bit of a learning curve but once you get through the first few hours (about the time you get to the bar) its just so addictive.

if you looking for a horror game with a lovecraftian story then definitly check out the penumbra games. their adventure games, not action games, and the combat in the first sucks (thankfully theres not much of it though), but i havent played a scarier game in a hell of a long time. seriously, turn the gamma down like it says, play at night in a dark room, those games'll scare you shitless.

I'm going to say Supreme Commander.

Not sure how long it came out, BUT DAM that is a nice real time strategy game.
