Good place to watch Tabletop RPGs in action?

So if this is something that belongs in the gaming thread, I'll move it, and I'm sorry.

Recently I've gotten into Tabletop RPGs after watching Spoony's Counter Monkey series. Problem is, I haven't the money/time/friends who own TRPGs to play the usual way, so I thought there may be a place where I could learn how these games work by just watching them.

Not taking part- I don't wanna ruin anyone's game by constantly asking questions. Rather, a place where I can see how these things work before finding a place to play.

PS: I've already tried Roll20. It heavily relies on the GM seeing your request, and I live in a poor time zone in comparison to a lot of the sites users.

I have no idea if this applies to your area, but our local gaming store has lots of tables set up for game-playing in house. It's really easy at the store to just sit to one side and observe others play.

Just to specify, groups form for quite a variety of games, with Pathfinder seeming to be quite popular around here.

Thing is, even if a gaming store, did that, I live nowhere near a game store. Free RPG Day was last week, so I checked for participating stores in my area. I got three, all at least 2.5 hours away by car.

Well, that puts a major crimp in that then! :p

Short of asking around to see if there are any gaming groups in your area, I'm at a bit of a loss then.

Regardless of whatever methodology you use, I wish you the best of luck finding a group (either online or in-person). I've amasses quite a few good memories from gaming over the years. I hope you get a chance to get in on the fun!

Well, if you're curious, I recommend watching a youtuber by the name of ItMeJP. He's got quite a few different tabletop rpg games on his channel, usually streams them on twitch before putting them up on youtube.

Any friends who play?

If so you could just skype and watch their sessions. We had a player who moved away and skyped in for every session, it worked well enough.

I have a friend who plays DnD, but she lives in America and they play physically.

Well, I know that Wil Wheaton will be doing a spin-off of his TableTop show focusing on RPG's, but I have no idea when this will actually show up on Youtube, as it is not that long ago that they received the funding for this, as one of the stretch goals of the Season 3 TableTop Kickstarter. Personally, I enjoy the series and think it's a great way to learn how to play a board game or discover new games, so I'd give it a watch, and if it's up your alley, I don't see why his RPG show should be a dud. But as I said, I don't know how long it will be until it actually appears on Youtube.

I actually love watching TableTop (Dragon Age is still one of my favorite episodes), but I'm looking for some other stuff until Season 3 gets started.
