You might want to check out Killzone: Liberation, or either Socom FTB2 or FTB3. Also, give MGS: Portable Ops Plus a try, but be prepared for a very steep learning curve.

Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops and Peace Walker. There's also Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters and Secret Agent Clank, and Wipeout Pure and Pulse.

I would say Peace Walker is an absolute must if you own a PSP. It is without a doubt one of the best games I've ever played.

Tekken Resurrection (or whatver its called) is pretty good and thats coming from someone who rarely plays fighting games. Rathchet and Clank/Daxter are both fun little games and Sid Meires pirates (while repetitive) is a good timesink

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker

You're sorted for over 40 hours. If you want more then Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. Now you're sorted for over 70 hours. That ought'a be plenty.

Calumon: I would, but Bandai haven't put it on the PSN over here yet.

All I've played on PSP is gripshift and Lumines. I thought Lumines was boring and overhyped. Gripshift was fun, but challenging.

Then I sold my PSP after a week because the screen was too dark and I realized I never had a chance to play video games on the go, so why would I need one?

Get a decent sized memory stick and download Final Fantasy VII, VIII and IX. This should keep you going for about 150 hours. On the JRPG tip, FFVII: Crisis Core is decent as is Final Fantasy Dissidia the 3-D fighting game, has tons of shit to unlock so should keep you going for a while. Also a new Kingdom Hearts out, haven't played it yet but looks good.

Persona 3 Portable and valkyria chronicles 2 are two good RPG time wasters. Dissidia and Blazblue Portable for fighting and Metal Gear Solid Peacewalker for shooting. Throw in Crisis Core and your set till next year.

EDIT: I forgot Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep

ah how has no one recommended it?!?!

final fantasy dissidia is THE best fighting game i have ever played. it basically sums up all kick ass heroes/villains of final fantasy and puts them into an epic fighting game with epic amounts of goodies to unlock and use. the game literally burned out my battery =\

Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep, Loco Roco, Dissida: Final Fantasy, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters, Daxter, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops.

I'd class all of the above in the must-have PSP games. All of them are fantastic, and more than worth getting.

If you've got the money and memory space, add the PSN downloads for Final Fantasy VII, VIII and IX to that list, alongside Metal Gear Solid.

The PSP made me sad... such a good console but people gave up on it to quickly and I get the feeling it's bitten the dust...

Breath of Fire III, 1 of the top 5 rpgs released on playstation and probably the best rpg on the psp =D

For Fighting games: (oddly enough I ranked them by most favorite to least...although I love every one of em still)

-Dissidia: Final Fantasy
-Guilty Gear X2 Accent Core+
-Blazblue Portable
-Soul Calibur Broken Destiny
-Fate/Unlimited Codes (Only purchasable through PSN)
-Tekken: Dark Resurrection
-Tekken 6
-Dark Stalkers
-King of Fighters collection
-Street Fighter Alpha something, I've seen it but never played it

For RPG:

-Crisis Core: Final Fantasy
-Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions
-Jeanna D'arc
-Disgaea 1 and 2
-Star Ocean 1 and 2
-Kingdom of Paradise
-Phantasy Star Portable 1 and 2
-Valkyrie Profile
-The FF 1 and 2 remakes
-The monster Hunter games
-Crimson Gem Saga
-Persona 1 and 3 portable
-Lunar remake
-Hexyz Force
-Yggdra Union
-Ys 7
-Ys: Ark of Napishtem
-Brave Story: New Traveler
-Riviera: The Promised Land
-Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep
-Valkyria Chronicles 2

And just other random games you might like:

-God of War Chains of Olympus, and Ghost of Sparta comes out next month (demo is up for grabs)
-Killzone: Liberation
-Syphon Filter Dark Mirror and Logans Shadow
-Resistance Retribution
-Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
-Metal Slug Anthology and XX
-SOCOM games are pretty good, and Tactical Strike is my top choice

And there are plenty of others, but you can't go wrong with any of these games. And yes I do own all of these. I might have missed some, but I'm too lazy to go over to my game shelf and look.

Final Fantasy Tactics: The War Of The Lions - hands down the best game I've played on the PSP. You might want to just get the PSN port of it instead (cheaper and less slow down which the PSP version suffers from considerably for some reason), but the PSP version has a few extra side quests (such as recruiting Balthier from FFXII) and character classes, as well as including some awesome hand drawn-style, voiced cut scenes.

The game uses the Job system, which is fantastic as it is, and the story is probably the best in any Final Fantasy game. Period. It can be quite hard, but if you get into the Job system and do some grinding at the start to unlock some awesome Jobs and abilities early on, it's really quite easy. It took me about 30 hours to beat, but I haven't yet bothered to go and do the optional dungeon. Anyway, I highly recommend FFT. Like I said, it's the best game I've played on the PSP (I'm from the UK so haven't played P3P yet).

Blazblue Calamity Trigger for the PSP is exactly like the console versions of the game with even more content. And it looks amazing.

It's official. Black Magic exists.
