Haven't had any songs that make me feel like shit but there's one that's guaranteed to make me sad, and that's Hurt by Nine Inch Nails.

Stay by Shakespeare's Sister. Makes me sad every time.

On the flipside though there is a lot of songs on my phone/mp3 player/washing machine that fill my heart with Joy in the drop of a note.

I prefer the cover version by 'Apoptygma Berzerk' but agree that it's an excellent song.

There's any number of songs that could make me feel shitty, but I can't name anything specific 'cos it's all very mood-dependent. If I'm happy, something miserable can bring it down. If I'm down, something happy and cheery will probably piss me off. If I'm feeling cynical, something with a positive message will get on my nerves. If I'm feeling positive, something cynical... etc.

I prefer Nine Inch Nails performing it, because they key line ("Crown of shit") isn't censored and has more effect. But Johnny Cash's cover is good too.

It would literally make me slump into a depressive state whenever my boyfriend wanted to listen to it. Then he would turn it off cause he couldn't handle my negativity It's a 'stab yourself with a blunt object' worthy song in my opinion.

Currently I'm listening to Iron and Wine by the postal service and it's making me feel very peaceful and a little sad. It's a good song (lyrics from Such Great Heights done to acoustic guitar for those who are interested).

Creep by Radiohead kinda makes me sad because all of my friends and I have been the guy in that song. After we played it in Rock Band for the first time, we all had to stop for a group hug since we were all thinking the same thing.

all the above are ones you can easily off yourself to ... but there's only 1 song i keep myself away from .. i listen to it once every few months because it has that much of an effect on me ... and i NEVER EVER listen to it drunk ... something very bad happened the last time i did ... the reason it gets me so much is because i first heard it during a very messed up period of my life .. it kinda turns me crazy ..
