good submarine games?

I'm looking for a good submarine game. maybe something like a sim, not so much an action game where you run around and fire 50 torpedo's at everything, but something realistic, where you have to sneak around and chart courses and give orders and all that kind of stuff.

does such a game exist?

yeah what they said Silent Hunter is great (3 is probably the best).....such a sense of accomplishment when your torpedo hits the target

I'll just pitch in to say that even though the Silent Hunter series is pretty cool, it's limited to WWII.

If you want a more modern game, I'd say go for Dangerous Waters, or if you can't find that, Sub Command. Both are pretty good modern sub sims.

Silent Hunter 4 had enough mods to really make it worth while. Look up subsim.com for complete overhaul mods to the core game. I've had days of fun patroling around Japanese held waters.

The submarine levels were epic, not to mention all of the other roles you could play...
