Not sure if was a technically bad thing for me but I took this one "almost nursing but not really" job in a hospital ward a few years ago and dropped the fuck out after a month. By "dropped out" I mean had a small case of severe mental breakdown. I really couldn't detach myself from my patients, my empathetic nature fucked me over because the human mind is a **** sometimes and god knows how I would have taken someone dying on me. I don't think i've ever felt better than the second I left that place, I had stress on top of stress that didn't even notice I had.

Right we move on to IT instead. Good. Let's learn programming or something, it'll be great i'm sure. You know how everyone says your job ambitions will come to you eventually in college or school when you don't have anything that comes naturally? Any time now thanks, i'm nearly 21 and still nothing. Computing skills are just good to have in general.

Picked the wrong career => dropped out of the program => now working + learning basic programming (yay) instead of taking student loans + quickly zeroing in on what career I really want in the near future.

Broken heart (and lost my best friend) => hurts like a *****, but slowly getting more emotionally resilient.

Got tired of being addicted to Facebook (and seeing my ex's name pop up all the time) => inactivated my account => HOLY CRAP I HAVE SO MUCH TIME IN THE DAY TO DO STUFF NOW. Seriously, it's ridiculous.

(Thanks for this thread, by the way. I needed this perspective.)
