I've been looking for some good (and preferably cheap) video editing software lately. Hopefully something along the lines of Adobe Creative Studio 5.5 or 6, but not with it's hefty price tag (I'm assuming it's still like $200 or more for a full license?). So if you guys can point me in the right direction that would be immensely helpful! Preferably have a link to the software and maybe a link to a video that was made using it, or a video that explains and shows off its features adequately.

Try TrakAx. They have a free 15 day trial (with no feature restrictions) so you can see if you like it, and it's on sale all summer long for $39. It's a good old fashioned trial, too, so if the 15 days runs out, the software just stops working - you don't give them any payment information unless you choose to buy a license.

DEFINITELY check it out, it has a really useful help feature built into everything and their customer service is simply fantastic.

I don't know if it has enough horsepower for your needs but I've found it to be very useful.

I'll definitely give that a go, looks like it might be what I need. The trial period is very considerate too.

If the other suggestions don't pan out you could check out Sony Movie Studio [http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/download/trials/moviestudio]. It's basically Sony Vegas with just the more professional features that most people wouldn't even use cut out - I've used both and I didn't even notice the difference. There's a free trial and it's only $45, though admittedly that's for the previous version...the latest version is like $99, but I thought it was worth buying. It's a pretty good piece of software.

I work as video editor. Depending on whether you want to make this a career I would recommend the Sony Vegas or Adobe Premiere. They are still much cheaper than Avid or Final Cut and do get used in the industry.
