You're taking a forum too seriously if you're looking for an uplifting and rewarding experience from it. Not really something you should base your self-opinion on, either.

Not optimistic, nope, but sometimes optimism's not as good for you as a nice splash of reality.

No, it's not good, it's one of the best.
...That still qualifies it as good.

Well, I think your problem was a little bit too much of waiting for your turn to speak instead of well, actually enjoying the discussion.

Personally for me, I enjoy the occasional person trying to ridicule me. Good way to vent. And that's the problem with being a good guy on the internet. No one really cares. You just got to learn to have some wit and engage better with people.

I love this place.

It occurred to me that for me posting threads and commenting on threads here is no longer an "uplifting" experience. You see when I pour my heart and soul into a post and nobody responds (most likely because it is a wall of text and nobody bothered to read it, or because it was decently written/didn't have any typos so they couldn't make fun of it.) it makes me feel like crap. There have been several times when I feel like I made a serious contribution to a thread and then nobody replies to me.

There are also times when I post something that wasn't very long in the hopes that somebody will actually read it, and then I get four replies picking it apart and calling me stupid, because I didn't write a wall of text to explain/support/prove my point/opinion. I am sick of seeing that I have four replies and knowing that most if not all of them are negative, and then feeling crappy and not wanting to read them. That isn't how forums should work, but maybe that is just my idealism kicking in.

The worst time is that on the Every time I have felt concerned for somebody, and posted to them voicing my concern about whatever they had posted about; they never responded. When I show that I care, and that there is another person on the other side of the monitor, I get shut down. That sucks. Plain and simple

I would like to imagine that someone will read this and then look through my past posts and try to figure out what drove me to this point, but nobody will. Or that they will look through my badges and wonder what kind of person I am, but nobody will. What will probably happen is that as you are reading this if you even did, you will think "well there goes another pussy that couldn't take it. Good riddance."

Nobody cares anymore, maybe they never did, either way idealists like myself can't exist in an environment where nobody cares. So goodbye. Ill stick around for ZP and Movie Bob, but I'll never post again. In conclusion I am leaving because Posing is no longer a positive and uplifting experience, because the few times I get a positive/encouraging response are overwhelmed by all the times I get ignored/ridiculed, and because I have come to believe that the vast majority of you no longer care enough to look for the person behind the monitor.
Good bye and good luck, mate. Reading this was the best thing I read here in a while. Guys, if someone makes a good post try to actually RESPOND to it a bit, hell, even a sentence saying "I agree" can make the OP feel better about what they wrote.

Its like writing a novel and then having people pick it apart, then write a short story and no one reads it, gives you that certain anger which can only be achieved from seeing years of hard work go up in smoke.

Anyways, thanks for posting this, you seem to be quite a good man from your posts.

Damn, see ya. I'll admit the vast majority of users here are complete elitist snobs, I just tend to ignore them. But! Of all the forums I've visited and frequented (Which is to say: MANY), this is by far the best environment... Mainly because the mods are so harsh, I'd say. I enjoy myself.
I agree, people on here range from down to earth plante creatures and Mr and Mrs Snobing Mc' Bit Snobbington. This is definetly a nice forum and a very good gaming one.

It's more kinda "guy who enjoys fun and progressive conversation" versus "Troll and person who decides they have a big problem with your comment"

Internet needs a superhero.

If you take the forums so seriously that not getting response to your post makes you seemingly go into some kind of depression then it's clearly not the place for you.

As far as getting quoted goes, it's mostly hit and miss. Sometimes they might reply sometimes they wont. I've done over 300 posts now and I've had only a handfull of replies.

Can't imagine many people find posing to be fun. Aside from models, I guess.

OT: It's just something that happens in large crowds: people don't pay attention to those who don't do something amazing to earn it, aren't crying out for it or aren't being stupid enough to deserve it. Not to sound condescending, but you're going to get ignored/ridiculed in real life, too, so the best thing to do is to learn to move past it.

It ever was??? The Internet, which includes the Escapist, are many things, but they are certainly not uplifting.

No kidding. Let's hope the poor guy doesn't decide to migrate to 4-Chan. :(

Aw, man. One more post and you could have reached 130th. D:

Welcome to the interwebz.

If I stopped and whined about every single time one of my life-changing posts was ignored, I'd be crying in the darkest room in my house. Forever...
...Alone.

Well, I'm sorry to hear that. I never interacted with you, but I guess you seem like a pretty okay guy.

This is one of the most moderate forums on the internet. I mean, the only other forum I've been on with a better community is the airsoft forum I belong to, and that's only because we all know each other in real life and we have a total of like 100 members.

However, you've been a member since April. Not trying to be elitist or anything, but that's really not enough time to get to know the community, and your opinion of it is rather harsh.
Yes, your opinion might be amazing and your post might be perfect, but that doesn't mean you should feel angry when it gets ignored. I've written paragraphs on certain threads only to get passed over and I can tell you, the feeling of anger/shame/"why did I waste my time" dies out. I've put more effort into some posts than I do for some of my English essays, and they get ignored. It's just something that happens and you learn to live with it. You're putting your opinion out there, and who's to say that people aren't reading it? I've read countless posts, but just had nothing to add to the discussion, so I didn't post anything. Because of the low content warning, we can't just go "Yea, this guy's right" we have to add something to the discussion, and if we can't do that, we don't post.

If this isn't for you, it isn't for you. Hope you enjoy wherever you go next (whatever replaces the time you've spent here). ^^

Also: If you're not typing out threads/responses for yourself (like this one) you're wasting your time. My responses (when actual responses to something I have an opinion about) are always for me. I feel better getting to express myself. As I said, if you weren't doing those things for yourself first (and responses second) you're probably better off without posting (just because otherwise you're going to be more attached to people who respond/the responses than your own opinion or post).

Well, all I can say is that I hope you enjoy yourself on whatever forums that you feel deserve to be graced by your presence. Good luck!

Personally, I'd say that these are the best forums I've ever used. The atmosphere is just so pleasant.

And that's why anonymity sucks balls.

The dude ain't reading this and expects us to tear him apart or be contemptful of him, fueling his desire to stay away.

The best we can do is be ironic, funny, stupid, indifferent, and hope/dream he goes to 4chan!

Also: Cool story bro.

"Personally for me" is redundant. You're saying the same thing twice.
That was an attempt at humor. Capital x, capital p, as they say.

I used to be an idealist, much like yourself, looking for uplifting forum conversation. Unfortunately, that all ended when I took and arrow to my processor.
