Hey All. Just wondering if anybody else has used Google's new product, Wave.

If you have, how do you think it stacks up against other services such as Facebook and AIM for conversations and networking?

I heard of it when the president of my university film-making society, a friend of mine, told me about it when we were scouting locations for a film shoot last academic year. He reckoned it was going to be the next big thing to hit the internet and was going on about all the cool new features, when I got home I saw the trailer on Youtube and it looked pretty amazing. He also said he might try getting all the other society members on it this year so we can have huge linked chat and do presentations and society-related stuff from home, at the moment all that's done on Facebook and isn't much good.

Since then (about six months, give or take), I've heard almost nothing about Google Wave. Maybe it isn't quite as revolutionary as people thought it would be...

I have an account and was testing it out yesterday with some friends. It's pretty easy to use, but as high school students we've yet to find a practical use for it.

Eh I only barely heard of it, I'm not sure what it is.
And don't have an account.

This is the first I've heard of it so I wouldn't know how it compares to other things.

It's a bit useless, I know nobody on Google.
I was going to type the same thing. I got a wave invitation, set everything up and then realised hardly any of my friends use wave. Heck, hardly any use Gmail to begin with.

If you want I can give you an invitation OP, just pm me your email... but I can tell you now that if you don't know many people with google accounts its pretty much useless.

So were not going to do the wave with google somehow? I'm slightly depressed now.

Wow, Google's doing everything now... But I haven't heard of it before now, but by the sounds of things, the more well known things will probably win out.

I had never even heard of it until now.
Ditto.

I reckon I'd use it as much as gmail.

...or Facebook and MySpace for that matter.

So....never.

Sentiments both of which I echo.

This is the first I have heard of Wave, and thus must go research the product/service/monkey in a clown suit, lest I not be up-to-date with all the latest stuff.

It's still in the public testing phase, though Google have been oddly secretive about it.

I don't even like Facebook. And I hate Google as a company.
Why hate Google as a company? (just out of interest)
