So I got bored at school one day and I took a coat-hanger that was hanging from the wall and put the metal bit next to a friend of mine's ear. I didn't wanna poke him, I just knew it would be cold.

He turns around around full-swing and punches me where the sun don't shine. Needless to say it was extremely painful. I had a giant headache for two hours afterwards.

He sort of has a temper that comes out when you'd least expect it. That day he had been in a good mood and then after lunch he had a complete change in mannerism.

So long story short, is poking somebody behind the ear with a coat-hanger equal to a fist in the nuts? I'm not broken-up about it I'm just curious what internet peoples will think.

Uh, no? If you did that to me, I'd probably just take the hangar and smack you with it, but striking the testicles should be reserved for more severe actions.

No or better yet why did you play a joke on him when you know he got a temper?

I don't think it's deserved considering what you did was harmless fun, but if you knew he has a temper and doesn't like to be pushed, don't tempt fate.

No it isn't on the same level, but hey you learned an important life lesson today, "don't poke the crazies".

...Did you bend over for him? Sorry, I know. Wrong use of phrase. Some people that I know of refer it as the "third eye".

But yea, Unless you are friends someone is bound to do something like that.

Your friend...sounds kinda like an asshole. That was not in any way an appropriate reaction. If he doesn't learn to rein in his temper, he is going to have a really hard time in life.

Punch him in the testicles, then tell him why you did it. He won't accept his fault; he'll just get you back harder.

You can't deal with those kinds of people.

Definately. Maybe you deserved a smack somewhere, but not there.

Although it does remind me when one of my friends was punched hard in the face on a night out by one of his exes friends for sleeping with another one of said exes friends. He had a black eye for almost two weeks. It was hilarious for everyone else, and it's all okay now, but occasionally we tease him about it, and the girl who punched him is now known as Kady Balboa.

I would have punched him in the face mostly because well I don't like being attacked, but this reminds me of that time I was on P.E. and we had to do an activity in which I was blindfolded and some guy gave me directions of where to go, so he was guiding me and while I was walking I was moving my arms around to see if there was something in the way, so anyway he was guiding me and I suddenly bumped into something, I of course felt it with my hands to see what it was, and it was something soft and weird, covered in fabric, then I suddenly felt smack right in the face, so I of course removed the blindfold and it turned out that he had guided me to a girl and I ended up touching her breasts, of course it is funny because I am like the least sexual person around, specially back then, I mean I didn't even knew what sex was, but of course I was so mad at him that I went and kicked him in the testicular area, and that's about it.
[sub]Wow I am asked for advice and instead I tell a silly story, I can see how I'm certainly useful.[/sub]

Depends. If you do that sort of thing a lot then yes. Chances are that he didn't intend to swing quite that low, but was not likely to apologise if you were being a dick.

It hardly matters if we think you deserved it, you should wonder why he reacted like he did. If he has a temper then it was a bit daft of you to provoke him. If he is usually ok and you joke about like that between you often, then perhaps there is more to his over-reaction. I can't say for sure, I don't know anything about him. Or you really for that matter.

Sure, it wasn't merited however, if you already knew this guy was temperamental then you should have avoided doing something that would set him off. Just give him a wide berth and hopefully one day, he'll stop being so damn moody.

Personally don't think it was deserved. But like others have stated, if you do this reguarly & know that he can be temperamental then it's a bit daft. Then again, we don't know if he usually reacts this way to being the butt of a joke.

You poked a crazy person behind the ear....

I can't say you deserved it but you did kind of ask for it.

Well if nothing else you learned 2 valuable lessons. Poking angry people with coat hangers is bad and being punched in the testicles hurts.

I'm sorry, but if it were me, I'd have punched her right back. The person she should be angry at is the friend in that situation, but that's inconvenient, isn't it? Punching isn't the right way to go in that situation, and people shouldn't do it unless they're willing to accept that person may strike back.

OT: Arbitrary ball punchers irritate me. Once I was sort of wrestling with a friend, and he goes for a nut-shot. In that context, you kind of expect something. Still, he took it over the line. I powered through it and broke his nose. Another time, though, I was literally walking out the room when this guy I know sitting at the desk my the door lashes out. Perfect contact, with no mercy in the punch. Wasn't expecting it (or I'd have hit him with a chair) and I went down like a brick.

I was talking to someone at school and another guy came up behind me and slapped both hands down on my shoulders and so, due to having done martial arts a lot, my natural response was to turn around and bring my hand up hard into his testicles. He doubled over and I acted apologetically. I don't know if he deserved it or not to be honest, he did do it quite forcefully.
