As a PC gamer I have one question.... Would you judge it to be worth Origin? I mean... I'm going to buy it anyway (I'm way to invested in the exploits of Commander Shepard and company to quit now) even if it means needing to deal with EA's bullshit, but it better be damned good.

First off you suck, I am shaking with anticipation to play this game and you just happen to get to play some of it.

Second the game sounds awesome, exactly like I hoped it would be. I will play multiplayer for the hell of it, but I expected very little from it.

Also, in a move that I am sure will spark howls of derision, there are now Battlefield/CoD-style hitmarkers.

All I got from that are the hit markers. What the flying fuck? Hit markers are for retarded people. Is it really that hard to aim in these games? Most people in the world play shooters. Surely they know how to aim by now.
I think using the term "howl" was probably the best way you could describe it. Alright Adam. I'll bite. I want you to create a new topic describing your "perfect" Mass Effect game. One that they didn't make for the "retards."

Keep it classy bud.

Zhukov, thanks for the great info. You addressed a lot of thing I've seen people doing they're jump to horrific conclusion speculations about. Awesome that you detailed specifically what sort of RPG mechanics were added back in. I'm pretty excited about this game! I guess that makes me a retard.

Shhh, shhh... You had me at "biotic falcon punch." Sometimes, all it takes is one godly awesome concept to sell a game.

i fear that they did this. i followed this thread more closely and it turns out he could not import a shepard.

that means wrex is alive due to a fluffy mcguffin. or the lazarus project lives on as an amusement park where every dead can take a ride.
So you're against Bioware canon?...

but you're upset that Wrex is alive by default in this game when he wasn't in ME2... Thus violating Bioware canon...

(soldier uses that omni-blade thing, engineer has a flamethrower, my vanguard used some kind of biotic falcon punch).
Actually that's pretty interesting.

I suppose the only questions I'd want answered would be; is Legion a proper squadmate?
Legion and Tali are my runaway favourites, and Bioware would be suicidal to not have Tali as a proper squaddie.
i really like tali aswell, but it would be so funny if just to troll people tali was barely in the game XD i mean i'd hate them for it, but i'd still find it funny

Technically they're called commando rolls but who's caring?

I appreciate the balanced view of 'this is what I thought worked' and 'this is what didn't really seem to'. I'll only be able to form my own opinion once I play it for myself, but it sounds like Bioware has taken a step in the right direction, which will please long time fans and maybe even people who didn't like previous games.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks very much for doing this, really appreciate it. I have a few questions, if that's ok.
I can answer this from reading the big BSN thread of known features.

1. Does the whole "strip away defenses" thing from ME2 return? I think it worked well, but it irritated me, the lore clearly states that shields only protect against small, fast projectiles.
Except for this one. I know I read somewhere that they changed things so biotics are more useful in ME3. That peeved a lot of people that you could only use the fun biotic powers when the enemies were basically dead anyway in ME2.

2. About the dialogue. Is the dialogue wheel unchanged? Also, did you see any interrupts, and how were they?
Interrupts are back. Sounds like [https://twitter.com/#!/CaseyDHudson/status/72838254533152768] they will be used in some new ways, though.

3. Did you learn anything about side missions? Is planet scanning back?
Yep. Planet scanning returns [http://www.videogamer.com/xbox360/mass_effect_2/news/retrospective_reflecting_en_masse.html?page=2]. It too will be tweaked somewhat, though.

Side missions will be in there as well.

4. Does it manage to feel urgent without pressuring you away from exploration, etc?

Thanks.
Side missions and exploration are definitely there. You might want to check here [https://docs.google.com/document/d/1dDzXZMZegmD6bqJhDMpRNt9IrSwNZm2lFKOVbMWUaT8/edit?hl=en_US] for some info on that. I'm pretty excited about the notion of the Citadel being a bigger area than ever.

Also, here's some info on RPG elements [https://docs.google.com/document/d/1xFG2pOjoPFd6LW5vHpigIhRtCy9a9NtqAtweCg9Bv3o/edit?hl=en_US] and combat [https://docs.google.com/document/d/1d0XL-yZV-yN8pFonqBilPVKr4mbBtRaPt25frPYw978/edit?hl=en_US] if you're interested.

Okay, there seems to be some confusion here.

The copy I got to play was a demonstration build. It just contained the intro, two unconnected levels and a few multiplayer maps. It did not allow me to import my own save.

However...

It is important to note that the demo was using imported data, it just wasn't my own. There were a whole bunch of references to events in the previous game taking a specific course. For example, the events of the Arrival DLC were mentioned and the fate of Commander Kirrahe (the "hold the line" guy) came up. So the demo clearly does not reflect the default setup someone would get if they played the full game without importing a save file.

Basically what I'm saying is, chill. They haven't pulled a fast one on us.

Can you clarify a bit for me, do you mean the little pips that appear round the cross hairs when you shoot something?
Yes, that's right.

Yeah, some enemies are still shielded/armoured/barrier'd. However, it doesn't seem to protect them as well this time around. Protected enemies can be staggered or knocked over and biotics do more damage to protective layers.

2. About the dialogue. Is the dialogue wheel unchanged? Also, did you see any interrupts, and how were they?
It's unchanged. Continue conversation to the right, questions to the left, paragon at the top, renegade at the bottom etc. Didn't see any interrupts.

3. Did you learn anything about side missions? Is planet scanning back?

4. Does it manage to feel urgent without pressuring you away from exploration, etc?
Can't answer these, didn't see any side missions or planet scanning.

I read most of what you wrote, but I think you just sold me on it with this. As for the rest, sounds like it will be a fairly solid game. I may just have to buy the game via *shudder* Origin. Also, how did you get to test out ME3? Do you know someone who knows someone? are you a bug tester?

Hey, thanks a lot for that, nice to get some info without risking spoilers.
