So I logged onto steam(that money devouring, wallet-molesting site that it is) and saw that Gotham City Imposters was on sale.

I was vaguely interested in this game, but when it came out and it was apparent that it was a bit of generic FPS game. So I went a bit, "meh" and decided not to bother.

Now that it is on sale, I felt like maybe this was time to recompense and invest in the game.

But seeing as I'm a bit back-logged on my games, thanks to Mass Effect 3, Deus Ex : Human Revolution(steam sale again) and Skyrim.

TL;Dr : Is Gotham City Imposters worth playing, or just leave it well alone?

I think this was supposed to go into the gaming section.

If you are willing to deal with GFWL, yes it is worth it. It got the vastly needed FoV options and is now a really interesting FPS.
Oooh, woops. Good point.... mooooooooooodssSS!!!!!

Thanks for the reply, man I hate Windows live. But, oh well. I set up a account for Section 8 : Prejudice, so i should be able to cope with it ^^

Well you are in luck my friend, an anwser has just presented itself:

Essentially it's CoD with some style and 1/10th the price, other then that it feels almost the same to play.

For £6, I bought it anyway and will try it in my own time.

I've had burgers that cost more and lasted less, for chrissakes. Bargain!

I'd say it's more TF2 like but even more whacky and with a progress system.
I wouldn't say it's more whacky than TF2. From what I've seen so far the weapons are far more conventional that TF2's. And the art style is noticeably more coherent.

NO! DO NOT BUY IT!

I reviewed it a couple of weeks ago: http://eclectic-review.blogspot.com/2012/03/gotham-city-impostors-special.html

It's just the same now - can't get on to matches and just sits searching for players endlessly.

Heard it's a bit better on the PC but there has still been major glitches/server issues on PC.

On PS3 it's virtually unplayable. I've been on for 3 or 4 hours this week trying to get into a match - and actually played 3 matches in total (about 10 mins each) - so sat watching it search for players for over 3 hours!

I played the demo and I enjoyed it, I think you'd be fine either way, finding a game is ridiculously hard on XBL.
It's an interesting game play mechanic, kinda similar to TF2, and will definitely appeal if you're a Batman fan.

Just bought it, played a few matches. It's pretty fun. Would have preferred dedicated servers, but you can't always get what you want. For the price it's a good deal in my book.

I haven't played it, but a friend of mine played the demo while he was taking a break from ME 3 multiplayer. Everything he said about it was positive, seemed he liked it MUCH better than CoD.

The game's broken all platforms but the PC from what I hear. If you are a PC gamer then go for it. If not, then no don't buy it.

I bought the game on PC, and can report that the matchmaking is now as tight as a drum.

HOWEVER.

When I was playing it, I was suffering some horrendous framerate drops and general grpahics issues. Long story short, the game is not well optimized. Looking at the specs, Monolith claim that a 2.16Ghz Quad Core is recommended...a QUAD CORE. The specs are very similar to Battlefield 3, and I don't believe for one second that Imposters requires THAT much power to run. I personally think Monolith were a bit lazy in the optimization and slapped on a ridiculously high system requirement to cover their ass. (Also, while I won't list my entire PC specs here, let it be known that my PC has had no issue playing any game on full settings, whereas I had to put Imposters all to low just to make the framerate constant.)

Other than that, it's an absolute heap of fun. Will probably be a GOTY candidate for me.
