Err, I mean Axela is the Mazda 3, sorry
The quote button, and the edit button. They do wonders.

I don't care much for Gran Turismo, Trackmania United Forever will always be the best (car) racing game ever...

Until Trackmania 2, but we all know that's the next Half-life Episode 3.

No Ultima GTR - Quickest streetable (not merely 'road legal') car around the Top Gear track.

No Radicals - The SR8 is the production car record holder around the Nordschliefe.

No Ford Escort or Sierra Cosworths, true 'defining moment' cars. Yet they still managaged to fit in three different (read: the same) Ford GT road cars.

No original BMW M3, another defining moment in automotive history.

They've managed to cram in 9 versions of the Lotus Elise and 5 versions if the Esprit, yet they've managed to totally miss the existence of their finest product......the Exige!

Overall, yes, there is a shitload of cars, but who the hell wants 22 versions of the MX-5?? (in case you think I'm kidding, count them!)

The only word I can think of is FAIL. Way too much chaff, not enough wheat. Way too many misses.

Hey, they've got good Alfas, I'm not complaining. And anyway, there's always buying old Mitsibushi Galants and tuning them to hell.

*Sigh*. I know it's primarily a Japanese game, but would it kill them to include a few more variant/off-brand models? I liked it when they did that in GT2 with Vector. The cars were cool, and told me about a company that I otherwise never would have heard of.

On the bright side, at least there's cars in GT5 that aren't just Japanophile-wannabe-street-racer-spank-off material (SO many examples I could name in the last 6 years).

On the other hand...I don't know if I can deal with the game's other fans again.

There is a reason I didn't bother with competitive racing after GT2.
It's this conversation:

"ZOMG! NISSAN SKYLINE IZ TEH BEST CARS EVAR!"
"OMG! TOTALLY!"
"Uhh..I kind of like the Camaro's handling..not as fast but fu-"
"GTFO NOOB! WE TALKING REAL CARS!"
"...It's a driving/racing simulator you assclowns. They are *all* based on real cars."

Yeah...racing twink cars doesn't make you a good driver.

It's quite amazing how often I have had that conversation or a derivative thereof, either in real life or online. At the time, it was amazing how many people blindly worshiped the Japanese auto manufacturers to the exclusion of everything else.

Here's to hoping that has changed.

I find it hilarious that Need for Speed Hot Pursuit has better car liscences than GranTurismo.

Hey look! It's the car list from GT1, GT2, GT3 and GT4 with a new coat of paint and some rather detailed models with the same tracks from GT... you get the idea.

Honestly, I enjoy racing the slower cars, but if there's no classing system it will be full upgrades or GTFO the leaderboards. Boring.

There's nothing beyond 2006 in that car list. SSR11 is still not back, why do they keep adding then removing tracks from their games?

Another tacked on rally mode...

Still no Racing Modification upgrade...

Still no tire marks on the road and horrible tire sounds...

Goddamit! I was banking on this game to get the Sim genre right, after Turn 10 fucked up Forza 3... Guess not.
