Don't ask me why, my first reaction was a confused "whhaaat?!" and followed by been unable to process the idea for a few. Then you find there is producer that also work on a Fifty Shade of Grey movie. I think my brain melted from been unable to think of a single answer has to why those thing are even considered by Hollywood. At least if those were porn movie I could understand why, has the first one is car porn, while the other is regular porn except with even worse dialog.

And the article pretty much answers all the questions you have.

With "The Fast and the Furious" becoming Universal's biggest franchise, other studios are waving the green flag. DreamWorks' "Need for Speed" stars Aaron Paul of "Breaking Bad" fame, while Legendary is eyeing Juan Carlos Fresnadillo and Simon Crane to direct "Hot Wheels."

It's just like World War Z; buy the name rights, then make a vaguely related bland movie designed to appeal to just about everyone but the actual fans

I have no idea how you could possibly make a Gran Turismo film, it's nothing like Need for Speed which is basically the first Fast & Furious film in a game (bear in mind I haven't played any bar NFSU 1 & 2).

Still, if they're going to be making films out of driving games, the only one I want to see is Burnout. Endless crashes. Brilliant.

Gran Turismo movie, so it will take 6 years to make be full of stuff no one really wanted in the first place, have no where near enough of the stuff people actually wanted and 75% of the content will be comprised of movie clips from 60s car chase movies!

Sorry, but French been my first language, when I write GRAN, I instinctively add a D at the end without even noticing, due to french "grand" having one of it meaning been the same then Spanish "gran" and been one of the first few word a kid come to learn. Add on top that I am dyslexic, so I can barely notice mistake I come to make in a text.
