I don't outright deny games with male protagonists, but if I do get a game with a male protagonist, it's going to be something extraordinary, or something/someone I respect these days.Korten12 said:Sorry, this is a bit off topic, but do you only play games with a female protagonist? I can understand preferring a game to have it, but from your posts I would think you outright deny them. Which is a bit unfair...Rebel_Raven said:Closest thing to a female protagonist we're gunna get out of Rockstar since Oni, I figure, so I'm on board.
My gaming library stretching back to the NES is full of male protagonist only games, and I have noticed a lack of female protagonists, so I hope you can understand why I'm a bit jaded towards playing as a male protagonist in favor of playing as my own gender.
Truth be told, with learning that the gaming industry's been so against female protagonists, nevermind their agency, I'm even more jaded towards games with male protagonists.
I've bought and enjoyed Red Dead Redemption through and through, including Undead Nightmare, minus them not adding a character I wanted as DLC.
I have Arkham Asylum only dissapointed in that there's no Joker side campaign.
I have Arkham City only dissapointed in the game messing up while playing as Catwoman and her plot and burglary bits being so brief. I'm a fan of Mark Hamil's Joker and Kevin Conroy's Batman, too.
I'm wanting the Deadpool game despite the flaws it's got. I like Deadpool.
TTG's Walking Dead is a very welcome addition to my library.
I bought Marvel Ultimate Alliance to play as Venom, and Dedadpool. I like the Lethal Protector era Venom. And Ghost Rider. And a few other characters. 'm a decent fan of comics in general, both Marvel, and DC.
That's just the short list.
It might be unfair that I demand so much from male protagonist games, but I like the rare luxury of gaming in my own comfort zone, and would rather spend money on that. Especially because it's rare that said games are good.
