What people fail to understand is that video games are at least just as big as movies these days. And if the movies can do it, why the fuck should games have to conform to other standards?

"Four to five-year-olds have a tendency to copy what they see on TV, whether it's this or Fireman Sam putting out fires," she said. "ATL is not calling for a ban on these games, or censorship at all. What we are asking is for parents to become aware that the little ones are seeing these things."

Anyone who would allow a toddler to be in the same room while a game like GTAV is running is beyond help. There is no better judgement to which you can appeal to.

Glamorising? I think someone misunderstands some of the point of the game.
No one bothers to think about the context the actions are presented in. If it's on a screen then it is glamorized.

I saw all the torture scenes. They are for wimps. If you people think that is sadistic, vile, cruel, I think you are too privileged, you've lived only the good life and have no idea how cruel the world can be. By all means, you as players have killed millions/ billions / trillions of NPCs in a videogame, and you think GTA V's torture scene is cruel? You make me laugh, hypocrisy at its finest.
You're missing the point. They largely don't. WE largely don't. Non-gamers and people who feel ashamed by the myriad other levels of desensitization in their lives do.

By all means, taking that into account and viewing from that perspective, I apologize to fellow gamers. Sometimes I do forget that there are people who rarely or never play action/tps/fps/rpg hybrid games.

Honestly, I agree with them on the basest levels.

I don't want to be a torturer, for any reason. I don't care what you want to say in favor of it for the good of the industry, video games as a form of art or expression, or anything; I don't play video games to enact the worst aspects of us as a species. An overarching sentiment here seems to be "well, movies and TV shows did it, so what's the problem" and "this isn't meant for kids, so what's the problem", but even if this game isn't going to make torturers out of anyone, a line is crossed when we're the ones initiating what's happening on screen. Next up is going to be the scene where we brutally rape someone through quicktime prompts, people; when is enough enough?
