ok, i keep seeing all these people ranting and raving about an ff7 remake, but on the same topic, i see how most of them dont want the gameplay changed, so why the fuck do you want it remade? im one of those people who dont give a crap about graphics, i will play a game on gameplay alone, and if its good, ill play, i dont need preety games, why do you think i own a 360 insted of a ps3? most of my games are multiplatform, but i dont need graphics. my question is, do you?

graphics are certainly not the primary thing i will ever look for in a game but that said, when you can add graphics together with great game play ala uncharted and others...then you have something special

Good for you, but gaming is a visual medium so it's not unreasonable to ask for well designed graphics. I for one found FF7 to be painful to look at even when it first came out. It's simply an ugly game when it comes to character models. Though I always put good design before technological superiority. For instance, I also found the graphics in Crysis to be pretty bad. It's a terribly boring game to look at and does nothing to justify the huge hardware requirements.

No. And the point on Final Fantasy VII is that people love it and wish it were prettier to look at instead of those horrible lumpy ugly blocks that it's currently made of. I'm also one of those people who don't need much graphics and my platform of choice is the PC.

Graphics can make a game more immersive. And, if you're going to be staring at a screen for prolonged periods of time, the screen might as well have a pretty picture on it.

fairly big deal, but good gameplay can shine through some bad graphics. But you need to get enjoyment out of the game somehow, if you don't care for how it looks, and the gameplay isn't impressive, then the game will suck.

Good graphics can't do much to save bad gameplay though, but graphics are definitely part of the big picture

ALL games looked horrible back then. (well, almost all). In the FFVII era, the only games that looked good were the ones still using sprites.. FFVII was actually pretty good for polygon games of the era (and I'm not one of those rose-tinted glasses FFVII WAS THE BEST GAME EVAR types either)... but almost all the polygon based games of the time were steaming piles of dog turd.

I loved FEAR more than FEAR 2 due to the "lack" of graphics. It made it look more realistic. FEAR 2 just looks like a game, and I'm constantly remembered when I play it.

Graphics don't equal a good game. In fact, better graphics can ruin a game sometimes (for me, at the very least).
I love FF7 as it is.

If you're having graphics problem I feel bad for you son.
I got 99 problems but renders ain't one!

In short if you can get the best graphics, why not, but don't use it as a selling point.

FF7 is incredibly old and lacks impact with 3D models (ingame) that make lego humans more lifelike
most people want a remake so they don't have to have a PS1 and can play it on their current system

While graphics are not everything 3D games do not age well, EVER. While games got steller ratings back then for looking amazing, now on modern day TVs without a filter or two look like a blocky mess and FFVII isn't really any different. While the game is incredible and I wouldn't get rid of my original for anything even a remake, I'd like to see it remade so you can actually see emotion and such portrayed better. Lets face it, Cloud doing squats was funny and all but it's not exactly showing much else.

Us so called PC elitists (sarcasm) have mods that greatly improve the graphics of Final Fantasy 7 (to say that it changes the arms to normal proportions).

Graphics don't matter to me if the story is good, which sadly no JRPG has shown me (flame away!). Or if the gameplay is super interesting/fun (Portal!!).

I'd prefer good gameplay, but honest to god, they are important.

I'm not talking about about Crysis 11 Graphics.

I'm just saying good graphics are important in modern games.

I would have to agree that the graphics doesnt matter but when you have a system like xbox 360 or a ps3 you would hope they would be using the potential of the machines.

I equate graphics to being similar to the cinematography of a film. A film, much like a game, can jump leaps and bounds in its level of immersion and enjoyability. Whilst its not necessary to have fantastic camera angles and different filters however, it all adds to the experience, much like graphics in a video game.
