nVidia GeForce Cards are released in new generations and for every new generation they add the number 1000 to the model numberoliveira8 said:I dont know much about Nvidia cards...but what is the main diference betewen 1. and 3.? Apart from one having more 1000 in the name than the other.
GeForce 6xxx = 6th generation
GeForce 7xxxx = 7th generation
GeForce 8xxxx = 8th generation
and so on
The SECOND digit in the model number indicates if the videocard is a Low-End or Hi-End videocard.
* Below 600 means that the videocard is pretty much low-end which means that it is not intended for any heavy gaming at all, mostly for office computers and cheap computers that are ment to do ntohing but word processing and webbrowsing.
* 600 means that the videocard handles some medium gaming. While it will not be able to run games on the highest graphical settings it will do okay in most games as long as you stick to medium settings.
* 800 means that the game will handle heavy gaming - these are the videocards you want if you're in to PC gaming.
So to answer your question:
GeForce 9400 means that the card is from the 9th generation of GeForce, 400 means that it's a pretty much low-end videocard.
The 8400 means that it's from the 8th generation and 400 means also again - lower-end videocard.
Generally, the 9th generation is slightly faster, but since these videocards is so low-end I wouldn't bother with it for gaming. Not even for light gaming.
Judging from this [http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gtx-radeon,2151.html] article, the best bang for your buck would be a Radeon HD 4830. My personal recommendation would however be the nVidia GeForce 9800GT. They're all great cards and around the $100 mark.Zeke the Freak said:hi guys, Zeke here.
Im a recently converted PC gamer and i recently discovered that my graphics card (6200) sucks epicly (running CoH on low-still gets lag). So Im deciding which one to get. Im on a budget tho. It has to be below $100.
