Graphics Problem in L4D2 - Can anyone help?

I bought Left 4 Dead 2 yesterday after finding out that I could uncensor the PC version (I live in Australia, so we got stuck with the shitty version). I managed to get everything working only to encounter one strange grapical bug; none of the survivor's heads appeared except under random circumstances. Weird, but I could live without seeing their faces. Except I find out that I can't see special infected period. Can you imagine being stuck in an enclosed area with an invisible tank knocking you around? It's not fun.

So, does anyone have any ideas how to get the survivor's heads back? Or at the very least allow me to spot tanks while they beat me to death?

Also, the first female infected in the openning has this grey patch over her forehead; is that another graphical problem or is that the openning we aussies are stuck with because of a certain South Australian Attorny-General.

Hmmm, have you tried not f***ing with the gmaes programing? yeah, that usually helps.

Sorry man, cant help you, can you try and retur nthe game for a new one or deal with the patch and put it back on so you have less blood and bodies.

Strange... I know I'm stating the obvious but I would think it's to do with your actions regarding the censorship. My tip would be to find another method of removing the censorship or trying to oust your censorship happy politician from office.

Or you could ask Valve and forget to tell them about the whole censorship removal thing and see what they say.

RE: actually playing through the problem I'd say boomer bile or molotovs, if you haven't tried them already, as both should highlight the model of the special infected.

Why would returning the game help at all? Indeed, it would still be just as fucked up with a brand new copy.

I don't know how to fix the problem and keep the game uncensored, but just to get it back to playable you can uninstall, delete your L4D folder and re-install.

The issue with you not seeing special infected...I would guess, has something to do with the texture files for those models being un-readable or not present.

ARGH! Or being able to hear a witch but literally being unable to see her whilst firing your gun. Shudder.

Did you read the OP? he changed the game...

Or do i just not know how PC's work and make an arse of myself?

Cause if it was off Steam i dont think it would do anything, but if it was actually off a disk, then it might do something. Hey, im just trying to help.

Nope, happened to me too.

It was a reported glitch in the demo, seems they didn't fix it in the final game either....

Which also means I will be getting the console version.

The problem with that is that all I did was change the "550" value to "510". A lot of Aussies have done this, and it's worked fine for them. The only other thing I changed got changed back by the game automatically.

On the contrary, that sounds awesome.

It's really not, you get smacked around without having any idea on how to escape. It'd be slightly better with a more open area, but I think the tank was blocking my only way out.

Even if it wasn't a PC game, games still don't work like that. Game disks are not re-writable, lol...you can't change the game files on the disk. Anything he did would have been done to the install files. So yes, I did read the OP.

I changed my version as well and this never happened to me at all.

Did this happen before you changed the files? If it did then you should probably reinstall.

What i suggest is you try change the files back to normal, see if the problem is still there, if it is then it could be the game itself.
