It's actually not a good thing. They're just moving all MA games to R rating. So we still have a problem.
They were always going to shift a number of MA15+ titles to R18+ when it came it and to have thought otherwise is hilariously naive.

Ah no... they're moving the games that should be under the R18+ rating to it and (hopefully) uncensoring them in the process.
All future games will then fall under the correct ratings and will not need to be censored.
GOOD THING.

yes, minors can still get their hands on the games but it's harder and parents can clearly see the restrictions and it's their fault (bad parenting) if they are purchasing for their children.
And according to them all MA games should be R as they are, so no uncensoring. But they may change their minds mid-introduction. Only time will tell.

'them'? Who is 'them'?

And since when did 'as many as 50' equal 'all'?

And why don't I have a sandwich?

If you were a real Australian you'd know you don't just leave a mate to try and shove 5 kilos of smack up his arse without any help.
their are far easier ways to smuggle five kilos of smack. Up someone elses arse!

Yeah right... who are you going to trust with 5 kilos of smack?
Youll be surprised how willing hobos are to help if promised with a bit of cheap booze. And they're also deniable assets if they get busted XD

I fear it may be premature to celebrate right now. This is only one step. From the article, I gather the Federal Government is now on board getting an R18 rating. But they are not the only body that needs to agree to the proposal.

Still, it is certainly progress. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

I bet all of you Aussie gamers are happy to see this.
Please expand why you find this to be a good thing.

It seems like this is a step towards all out censorship.
Actually no, it's a step towards the classification of games, you see, previously, if a game was too violent or sexual for a standard M-15+ rating here, it would be refused classification, and not be sold in Australia, so we end up either not getting games, or getting games with the violence or sexuality being ceonsored so that it can be sold as a M-15+ game. As we do not currently have a rating above M-15+ for video games, it either allows games that are too mature for people under 18 being sold as acceptable for 15+ people or denies them entirely. Now we will be able to get games in our counrty that previously, would have either been denied classification and not sold, or censored to suit the lower classification. This will Alow the elimination of a censorship on Australian games, so your assumption is baseless and uninformed. Now all you have to be is 18 to play them, which, like drinking and gambling, are reserved for adults, as mature content should be.

I mean, they ban small breasts and women projectile pissing
Hahahaha... 'projectile pissing'...

The ban is on female ejaculation not pissing.
So women who squirt during orgasms aren't allowed to, well, orgasm?

OT: A step in the right direction, even though everybody is a good few hundred feet before them.

What is it with you and homeless people? Are you their agent or something? Have you unionised Australia's homeless population?

If the Government gets the agreement of the states and territories, it would need to embark on consultations with the gaming industry, gaming advocates, the Christian lobby and various children's groups to sort out how the new classification level would work in practical terms.
What the hell has the Christian lobby got to do with this? I suggest they censor the brutal murders, horrific massacres, torture and slavery in the Bible before they start censoring a medium that they're only interested in, in order to make some noise and look like they're doing something to save the world from sin and decadence.

Silly me. For some reason I thought that already happened. I just thought they were changing ratings of some games previously 15+ to 18+. Thank you, I am in agreement now.
I was referring to that I thought they already passed a bill allowing 18+ games.

Oh, hey, look- an R rating. It's about time. Now to see if having it actually prevents games from being banned- you can hardly scream "OMYGOSHCHILDREN!" if it is being presented to legal adults only, right?

...Oh, god, I hope so. I am so *fucking* sick of censorship. To be honest, this country scares me.

I know a few.. uhh.. yeah, about nine who could handle a job like that.
I heard they were on long service leave.
Long service leave? For how long? I bet they're lounging around some exotic motel in Bali right now, having the time of their lives.[/quote]

Something to that effect, yes.

Seen them on the tv a few times... must've been a travel show or something.

Well squirt porn is banned...

I think actual squirting itself is still legal as long as no images are taken.
Oh wow, they banned a form of porn? They banned the act of two consenting adults participating in something that makes money? Did they ban worse kinds of porn like torture? That seems so...backwards.
