mystical Ninja :starring Goemon on the N64 was by far one of my favorite games ever because it indeed had a mid-fight boss checkpoint (the boss had 2 stages) after you beat the first stage (which is piss easy) you go onto the next portion; which was annoyingly hard. but if u died on the 2nd half; you didn't start over; you got into the middle of it again, and i liked that

mid-boss battle checkpoints is what I'm trying to get at.

First-person perspective in horror titles. It's the best way, I promise! Just try it, developers!

A combination of unregenerable health bar and regenerable shields.

Halo: CE managed to get it right the first time, and nobody followed that example.
Mass Effect? Borderlands?

Pfft. Punching a grizzly bear in the face is something I do on my way to the letterbox, these kids should man up!
OT: TIMED JUMPING PUZZLES, FIXED CAMERAS AND QUICK TIME EVENTS! Seriously though I wish more games were comedy based. Also, MOAR NEW GAME +
You must have some god-damn brave postmen, and as for comedy games I wish we had more like the original monkey islands, day of the tentacle, or more recently psychonauts. It's a shame that no games have got that quirky charm nowadays.

I wish more games allowed you to customize your character. From skin color to gender.

I don't why game developers create characters that you can't do anything with. You can get more immersed in a game that allows you to create your own characters appearance.

AI thats fun to fight and really good.

The first FEAR game is the last game I played that had AI that was fun and challenging.
Yeah. FEAR had great AI, as did the sequel. I remember having some really fun firefights!

I thought the AI in MW2 was really good too, especially on levels like the Favela where they had numerous flanking options.

i suppose i can agree to that, it being hidden and all, it would help the game flow alot better i think and yeah it does make sense, but that would also require a LOT of work probably and dev's these days take the shortcuts...

Let's see.

Killzone 2: Mo-Cap deaths were awesome & the sixaxis usage for opening valves and stuff was cool.

Battlefield: First person vehicles in a fps

Resistance 2: Integrated ranking that gets stats from singleplayer, multiplayer, and co-op

MAG: Just large player matches. More games need matches of over 10 players. 40 players or up please, at least Resistance:FoM or Resistance 2 size.

I'll think of others later

Offline mulitplayer bots. I can think of only one game I own that has them, and that's Timesplitters 2.
Yes. We definitely need bots to make a comeback. Playing split screen with only two people isn't as fun.
